LEWIS, Mr. Dominique Charon "Grip" - age 23, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral service commencing at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Pastor Charles Williams officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Lewis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday. Dominique Charon Lewis affectionally known as “Grip” entered into this world on May 19, 1991 in Flint, Michigan the son of Tom Lewis II and Carmita Claxton-Lewis. Dominique graduated from Carman High School, “Class of 2009.” He was a cheerful, warm hearted, loving and caring to all he knew and loved. He was also a devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Dominique enjoyed spending time with his nephews, and god-baby’s and was especially fond of music. Dominique leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Carmita Claxton-Lewis (fiancée, Abron Andrews); grandparents, Tom Lewis I and Mary Lewis, all of Flint, Oliver (Bobbie) Claxton of Mauldin, NC and Teresa (Eugene) Claxton-Williams; 3 sisters, Cheaunie Lewis, Shayla Thomas and Nakia (David) Odom; 3 brothers, Ricky Davenport, Cameron “Sporty” Thomas and Adrian “A.D.” Thomas; 2 nieces, Harthena Thomas and Ravon Odom; 5 nephews, Kyimoni Lewis, Gabriel Parker, Lanayla Burton, all of Flint, Jacob and Joshua Odom, both of Lansing, MI; aunts, Teresa “Candy” (Wilfred) Frelix, Jackie (Calvin) Leeper, Lisa (Cedric) Ragland, Patricia Andrews and Pat Bates, all of Flint; uncles, Leneil Burton of New York, Oliver Claxton, Jr. of Benton Harbor MI, Kenneth (Tynika) Claxton of Columbiaville, NC, Michael (Tara) Claxton, Melvin (Tonya) Lewis, Oliver (Edith) Lewis, David Lewis and Charlie Boatner; great-aunt, Undine Richardson, all of Flint; god-brothers and family, Marquan Coleman, Shaquana Tiggs, Marquise Coleman, Arealla Pea, Ni’yelle Coleman and Ji’velle Coleman; special friends, Dominique Redmond, Derrick Betts and Rita Roman; friend, Yasiben Brown; god-daughter, Kadence Moore; a host of other relatives and cousins including special cousins, Deriko Catron, Tracie Claxton-Callaway, Vershaundra Catron, Mychal Claxton-Alston all of Flint and JaJuan Smart of Afghanistan. Dominique was preceded in death by his loving father, Tom Lewis II; grandmother, Savilla Burton; great-grandparents, Buluah and Alex McNair, Thelma Denard; cousins, Demertic Lewis and Devincio Lewis; aunt, Tanja Catron-Edwards.
