HOLMES, Ms. Deborah Ann - Age 65 passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022, at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Family Worship Center Church, 3280 N. Linden Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Internment: Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and family will assemble at the chapel 10:30 AM Saturday, February 26, 2022. Ms. Holmes will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday, February 25, 2022.Minister Deborah Ann Holmes was born April 11, 1956 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Gussie Mae Holmes and Sylvester V. Thomas. Early in childhood, she moved to Spiro, Oklahoma. Deborah lived there until adulthood and returned to Flint with her 2 children in 1986. She was employed at Whaley Children’s Center and New Path’s Inc., Deborah retired in 2020. she was a long time faithful member and minister at Family Worship Center Church International. Min. Holmes had a loving spirit and always gave a kind word of encouragement or prayer to anyone in need. She was a beloved mother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend. She was “Nana” to her grandchildren whom she loved to the utmost. Min. Holmes loved watching TV and action movies, and snacks (Jelly Beans) with her son, B. She also loved talking on the phone with her sisters, Shirley, Towns, Angel and sister/cousin, Brenda. Minister Deborah Ann Holmes leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Lashaela Tyjuan Clayton-Bey; son, Yashic Karondus Holmes a.k.a. “Boomer”, both of Flint; 5 grandchildren, Yasminae, Yashiona, Rashamere, Yuriell and Miguel; 2 great-grandchildren, London and Legend; sister, Lucrecia Davis of Mt. Morris, MI; 2 brothers, Greg Terry Holmes of Fort Smith, AR and Josiah Holmes of Washington, DC; 5 nieces, Lisa Sergent, Antionette Holmes, Nichole Forbes, Christine Holmes and Kenyatta Bates; 2 nephews, Frankie Brown and Keyon Jarrett; 2 aunts, Mattie Andrews of Mt. Morris, MI and Angeline (Charlie) Boone of Plainfield, NJ; uncle, Jessie (Jean) Andrews of Flint; special cousin, Brenda Osborn; brother-in-law, Lorenzo Route; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Angel Williams, Loretta Fenton and Dennis Wallace; 2 special sisters, Beverly Towns and Shirley Odneal; 2 special daughters, Minnie and Missy; very special friend, “Skillet”. Minister Holmes was preceded in death by her parents, Gussie Mae Holmes and Sylvester V. Thomas; grandparents; sisters, Ramona Paulette Route and Prescilla Regina (Ngwena) Holmes; and brother, Anthony Lashawn Holmes; sister, Rose (Alfred) Barber; and a host aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to express special thanks to cousins, Jacqueline Holmes-Robinson and Monica Redwine, and friend, Dennis Wallace, Family Worship Center Church International, ant the family and friends of Alma Ave.
