HUDDLESTON, Mr. Claude Henry - Age 76, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor James Walker Sr., officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd. Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mr. Huddleston will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Tuesday. Mr. Huddleston was Honorably Discharged from the United States Marine Corps as well as the United States Air Force. Claude Henry Huddleston Sr. of Flint Township, MI passed away on May 11, 2021 surrounded by his beloved family. Mr. Claude Henry Huddleston Sr. (Caramel) was born on December 13, 1944 in Grenada, Mississippi, the son of Maryland Huddleston and Lula (Stricklin) Huddleston. Claude graduated from Central High School in 1963 and enlisted in the U.S. Military serving in the Marines as a Rifleman Expert. During his successful military career, he acquired many honors and accolades including, 3 Vietnam Service Medals, a National Defense medal, Good Conduct medal, and the Marksmanship Award for M14. Claude also served in the Air-force beginning in 1994 as a Traffic Management Craftsmen, earning the Good Conduct Medal, 2 Small Arms Marksman Ribbons, the National Defense Service Medals, the Air Force Training Ribbon, 4 Armed Forces Reserve medals, and 4 Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service medals. Claude was employed with General Motors for over 30 years before retiring from GM Romulus as a Mechanical Engineer. Claude was truly a "Jack-of all-trades" receiving his Associates degree in Accounting from the Detroit College of Business, a certificate in Electrical Engineering, he earned his Cosmetology Certification from Ross' School of Cosmetology, and 2 certifications in Carpentry. A little-known fact about him is he played the saxophone for many years and loved jazz. Claude cherished spending time with his family and friends, playing cards and dominoes, he especially loved playing dominoes with his sisters. He also enjoyed fishing, tinkering with mechanics, and carpentry work. However, most people knew him for his love of bowling. Claude was known as “Carmel'' at the bowling alley, bowling in several leagues. One of his proudest moments was earning recognition and accolades for bowling a perfect 300 score game. Mr. Claude Huddleston Sr. was married five times, beginning his story with wife Michele L. (Louis) Huddleston on August 28th 2003, the couple exchanged vows in August 2013. Mr. Claude Henry Huddleston Sr. is survived by: loving wife, Michele Huddleston; 3 sons, Tremayne Huddleston of Tucson, AZ, Keane Huddleston of Omaha NE, and Claude (Lauren) Huddleston Jr. of Jackson, MS; 2 daughters, Claudette (Reyase) Blythe of San Marcos, TX, and Catina (Michael) Gordon of Grand Rapids, MI: brother, Melvin Huddleston of Flint; 6 sisters, Gwendolyn Cooper of Flint, Peggy (Larry) Taylor of Moscow Mills, MO, Gloria Huddleston of Columbus, MD, Sylvia Jibson of Glenview, IL, Elmira (Jessie) Collins, of MI, and Naomi Alexander of Charlotte, NC; 10 grandchildren: 2 great-grandchildren: his wifes’ beloved sons, Bobby Fowlkes, Antonio, Chris, and Deondrick Louis, all of Flint; 11 step-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends including mother of his two sons, Mrs. Kim Kern; best friend, Mr. James Mitchell; long-time family friends, Ms. Lucille Martin and Ms. Rita Russell. Mr. Huddleston was preceded in death by his sons, Claude Jamal Huddleston and Torrance Huddleston; father, Mr. Maryland Huddleston; mother, Mrs. Lula Herndon; step-father, Joseph Herndon; grandparents, Mr. King David and Victoria Stricklin; nephew, Bennie James Cooper; 2 sisters, Bessie Mae Raven and Earie Mae Butler; brothers, C.C. Huddleston and Rufus Huddleston; mother of his 1 of his sons and 2 daughters, Mrs. Carrie Huddleston.
