WASH, Mrs. Catherine - Age 91, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 at The Pines of Goodrich, Goodrich, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM, Friday, November 5, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Christopher Taylor, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 10:30 AM Friday. Mrs. Wash will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM. Mrs. Catherine Wash was born June 3, 1930 in Newton County, Mississippi, the daughter of Lillie Mae Phelps and Albert Hunter. Catherine came to Flint, Michigan in 1952 and married Graham Wash. From this union they had three children. Catherine was a high school graduate, home maker and caregiver. She enjoyed reading the Bible, listening to Gospel music and loved her family and friends dearly. Catherine was a longtime member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, where she served as choir member, Nurses Guild and Mother’s Board. Catherine was a nurturer. She would befriend any form of life - a plant, a squirrel, or a lonely person. Catherine was a Prayer Warrior, always praying for others and lifting their countenance with a song. She loved to cook and keep a clean house. Catherine also loved dresses with fitted waists, beautiful hats and Barack Obama. Her favorite passage of the Bible was the 23rd Psalm and her favorite song was “I Get Great Consolation When I Pray.” Mrs. Catherine Wash leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Lavern (Roscoe) Bond of Flint and Lillie (James) Dover of Grand Blanc, MI; step-daughter, Mary Lee Groce of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Elliott (Marian) Dover of Prosper, Texas, Elena Bond of Flint, Justen Bond of Grand Blanc, MI, Angela (Anthony) Nunn of Sterling Heights, MI, Arlester McDonald of California, and Arleesia McDaniel of Illinois; great-grandchildren, Alissa and Aiya Bond, Anthony II and Alexander Nunn, Phoenix Nelson, Ameria El-Hasan, and Boston Hatley; dearest cousin, Ruby LeGardye; sister-in-law, Angela Wash of Sacramento, CA; god-daughters, Benita Culp, Gio’vanna Wise and Laquendra Brown; god-sons, Ronald and Kerry Nelson; a host of nieces and nephews and dear friends including, Regina Sargeant, Chris Christopher, Diana Carpenter, and Storm Abrams. Mrs. Wash was preceded in death by her husband, Graham Wash; son, Tommy Lee Wash; parents, Lillie and Albert Hunter; sisters, Earline Wilson and Lela Mae Rucker; brothers, Rube and Lester Hunter.
