TAPO, Mr. Byron Edward Jr. - Age 42, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, June 3, 2022, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Pastor Ed Smith, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Friday. Mr. Tapo will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Byron Edward Tapo Jr., age 42, was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. He was born January 28, 1980 in Flint, Michigan to Byron and Sherri Tapo. Mr. Tapo graduated from Beecher High School and earned two Associate degrees from Mott Community College. He served in the United States Army, and later held various occupations; he most cherished truck driving. He was a proud team member of NTB Trucking Inc., driving 18-wheelers regionally for Meijer stores. Byron loved to watch and play sports; he played football and baseball in his younger years, and continued to play basketball as often as he could. He excelled at drawing, enjoyed playing chess and dominos, and took every opportunity to travel. Byron’s love for food was well known. Byron relished cooking, sharing meals, and exploring new foods and restaurants. He also loved to fish, and spent long nights fishing at Port Huron with his father. Byron will forever be remembered for his love of family and friends, and his connections with them. He encouraged and supported his loved ones, maintained long and strong communication, and showed compassionate outreach to the downtrodden and bereaved. His children were his greatest source of pride and joy. He loved them deeply and supported their achievements with great enthusiasm. He had infectious energy, a brilliant smile, and high determination to accomplish his goals. Mr. Byron E. Tapo Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: son, Marrieo Pritchett; daughter, Havana Tapo; parents, Byron and Sherri Tapo; grandmother, Martha Tapo of Michigan; sister, Sheena (Rashad) Simmons; nephews, Daniel and Gabriel Simmons of Georgia; uncles, Marvin Graham and Andrew Graham, both of California, Marlon (Sharon) Butler, Vernon (Lalondus) Butler, and Steven Kagen; aunt, Tanya Butler, all of Michigan; and a host of other relatives and friends including special relationships, Medina McQueen, Andrea Pritchett, Taniqua Moore, and Wanda Hill. Mr. Tapo was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Morris Butler and LT. Clifton P. Tapo Jr.; grandmother, Alma Butler; uncle, Charles Butler; and aunts, Yvonne Brown, Dorothy and Clarice Graham, Cherryl Kagen, and Celestian Tapo Timmons.
