January 10, 1959 - May 10, 2021

HARPER, Ms. Beverlyn Joyce - Age 62, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, May 21, 2021 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Rev. Dr. Henry L. Fuller, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 AM Friday. Ms. Harper will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Beverlyn Joyce Harper was born January 10, 1959 in Shreveport, Louisiana, the daughter of Cousazy and Willie Mae Harper. She was baptized at an early age at the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist, under the leadership of the late, Rev. Dr. Granville Smith and was nurtured through her early years in the Church School and Youth Department, under the leadership of Pastor Fuller serving at that time as Superintendent. Beverlyn was very conscious of her commitment and development in Christ and served faithfully in Youth Ministry and the total church program. Beverlyn was a graduate of Northwestern High School and Michigan State University. She was employed as manager of the McDonald’s Restaurant/Bristol Road. During his time of illness, Beverlyn was the caregiver of her uncle, Frank Harper. She also loved spending time sewing, cooking and traveling. Beverlyn leaves to cherish loving memories: sister, Gwendolyn Love; 2 brothers, Cousazy Harper Jr. and Wilbert Don Harper, all of Flint; nieces, LaKeisha Harper of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, Tameika Love, Shurmyra (Djuan), Mattox, Daniasha Harper, Shemicha Harper, Maria Harper, Raushawna Harper, Natoya Harper, Ashley Harper, Shantel Hawthorne, Ariele Wiggins, all of Flint; nephews, Genero Harper, Arthur Love, Deondre Love, Lovelle Love, Lanford Love, Demetrius Harper, all of Flint; uncles, Earl (Ceatrice) Stephens, Martin (Angie) Stephens, all of Fort Worth, Texas, Sam (Gail) Stephens of Dallas, Texas, James Doc, Paul (Viola) Stephens, all of Shreveport, Louisiana; a host of other family and friends including her dear friend, Karen Southall of Calhoun, Georgia. Beverlyn was preceded in death by her parents, Cousazy and Willie Mae Harper; brother, Cousazy Jr.; and her uncle, Frank Harper. The family express special thanks to Pastor Henry L. Fuller, Jr. and the Mt. Calvary Church family, McLaren-Flint.
