BARNES, Mrs. Berniece Lucille - Age 96, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at her residence. Family hour 7:30 AM Thursday, January 13, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 8:00 AM. Co-Pastor Sherri L. Britton, officiating. Friends and family will assemble at the chapel 7:30 AM Thursday. Mrs. Barnes will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Mother Berneice Lucille (Holley) Barnes was called home peacefully at her resident on January 7, 2022. Berneice was born September 25, 1925 in Isabella County, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Mabel Holley. She was a God-fearing woman who lived a holy life and truly loved the Lord. Mother Barnes attended Flint Central High School and became not only a homemaker but a woman of all trades. She was a master at making ends meet in her early years as a dedicated hard worker and entrepreneur. Berneice made a living as a painter, landscaper, caretaker, housekeeper and quilt maker. She enjoyed attending church at Detroit Street Church of God and baking for her family and friends. Mother Barnes loved her family and displayed impeccable character. Mother Barnes was a kind soul and would help anyone who needed it. She was a staple in her family, caring for children and the elderly. Mother Barnes was a ball of energy that commanded respectable behavior and was dedicated to making sure anyone she was close to knew about the Lord. Her love and light was incomparable and irreplaceable. Mother Berneice Barnes leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Cheryl Barnes and Ardelia Barnes-Hall, both of Flint; son, Bruce Barnes Sr. of Shelby, NC; grandchildren, Jamaul Barnes, Ricky Felton, Tamara, Debbie, Sherman Barnes, Desa Barnes, Travis Barnes, Bruce Barnes Jr., Victoria Hall and Tamela King; great-grandchildren, Niyah Garner-Hall, Karria, Aleah and Carson Maklin, Sabrina and Sonya Barnes, Jackie Colby, Bruce Barnes III and Braylen Barnes; 4 sisters, Doris Morris of Houston, TX, Othello Buckner, Shirley Dickerson, both of Flushing, MI and Joy Anderson of Houston, TX; a host of nieces and nephews; 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara Holley of Flushing, MI and Margaret Holley of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends. Mother Barnes was preceded in death her sons, Herman and Delano Barnes; granddaughter, Stacey Hall; parents, Joseph and Mabel Holley; sisters, Katheryne E. Barnes and Gladys Adams; brothers, Harley Holley, Foster Holley, Laverne Holley and Leroy Holley.
