WATKINS, Mrs. Beatrice - Age 83, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at her residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Rev. Robert Blake, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 1:30 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Watkins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday.Mrs. Beatrice Watkins, known as “Ms. Bea” was born December 12, 1938 in Port Huron, Michigan, the daughter of the late Charles and Clara Murphy. In 1955, the family moved to Flint, Michigan. Beatrice attended Flint Central High School. She worked several jobs including, Flint Metal Fab, a division of General Motors Corporation, social service, unemployment office, The Palm Tree and at The Vets Club. Mrs. Bea met and married her late husband, Henry “Jimmy” Watkins. She loved her family and was well known to younger kids as “Granny Bea”. Beatrice enjoyed living her life and shared this joy with many, many people. She was well known and loved. Mrs. Beatrice Watkins leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Christine (Bruce) Hawthorne of Covington, GA, Maxine Murphy of Port Huron, MI, Tracey Murphy and Ernestine Hayman, both of Flint; granddaughter, Leticia (Brandon) Forker; 4 grandsons, Gyjuan Hawthorne, Derek Hawthorne, James (Jocklyn) Mayfield and Kyle Hayman; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Murphy; 2 brothers, Charles (Nancy) Murphy and Daniel (Maxine) Murphy; 4 nephews, Brock (Alvetta) Murphy, Jason Murphy, D’andrick Murphy and Julian (Tamika) Murphy; dearest friends, Cottrell Evans Jr., Pie Walker and family, Derrick Collins and family, Larry Johnson, Kemp Johnson, Carol Neeley, Doris Quarles and Gail Teer; adopted sons, Brod Washington, Greg Spotsville and Ricky Spotsville; god-daughter, Linda; god-nieces, Deanetris Armstrong, Pat Collins, Kannisha, Cynthia “Auntie”, Lawana, (D.J.), Deb and Marlene; god-nephews, Rod Neeley and Reggie Neeley; Little Sis, Theresa Watson; a host of family and friends in many states. Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Watkins; parents, Charles and Clara Murphy; brothers, James and Frank Murphy.
