MILLER, Mr. Arnett - Age 82, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10;30 AM Friday, March 11, 2022, at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Rev. Dr. Reginald Flynn, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Friday. Mr. Miller will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Arnett Miller was born on March 5, 1940 and passed on March 5, 2022. His sons called this a perfect equation as he had formerly taught math early in his career. He was born into the family of Jefferson Miller and Willie Bernice (McMorris) Miller in Pine Bluff, AR, the fifth of 6 children. Mr. Miller was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ at the age of 12, at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, AR. Mr. Miller was educated in Arkansas and graduated from Merrill High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in math from the University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff. After graduation he relocated to Michigan and continued his education at Michigan State, receiving his Masters in Math Education. He also received an Administration Certification. Arnett met his loving wife, Vivian at Merrill High and they later married while he served his country in the United States Airforce. Three boys (Christopher, Marlon and Julian) were born to this union. Mr. Miller was very proud of his sons for many reasons, but especially because they all have served as trained church musicians. Mr. Miller was employed by the Flint Board of Education for 30 years, 25 of which he served in Administration. He served at Holmes Middle School, Northern High School, Kennedy Center and School of Choice as principal, prior to retirement in 1998. As a supportive and active member of Foss Avenue Baptist Church for 54 years, he has served as Deacon, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, choir member along with several other boards. Mr. Miller served as CEO/Treasurer of the former Foss Avenue Baptist Church Credit Union for over 40 years. He has a deep love for Foss Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Miller enjoyed traveling and insisted on taking the family on vacation at least once per year. After retirement, Arnett & Vivian traveled extensively to many states and the Caribbean Islands. He also enjoyed photography golfing, bowling and BBQing for family and friends Mr. Arnett Miller leaves in God’s care: devoted wife Vivian; three sons, Christopher (Dorthea), Marlon (Amanda) and Dr. Julian Miller of New Port News, VA; 3 grandchildren, Gabrielle Simone Miller of Houston, TX, Devan Miller and Anastaysha Miller, both of Flint, MI; great-granddaughter, Marlee Ann Tatiana Gordon of Houston, TX; 2 brothers, Walter Miller of Smyrna, GA and Frank (Hazel) Miller of Flint, MI; sister-in-law, Eva Watson and brother-in-law, Claude Watson, both of Pine Bluff, AR; nieces, Marilyn Brown of Las Vegas, NV, Yoalanda Thompson of Stockbridge GA, Bonita Richardson of Smyrna, GA, Pamela Sanders of Lansing, MI, Tujuana (Aaron) Fowlkes of Grand Blanc, MI, Dr. Debra (Dr. Kevin) Ford of Mitchellville, MD, Lisa Johnson of Pine Bluff, AR and Karen Scaife of Lewisville, TX; nephews, Bobby Ray Franklin of Las Vegas, NV, Walter Miller, Jr. of Smyrna, GA, Brian Miller of Columbus, OH, Kenneth Miller of Riverdale, GA, Larry Miller, Gregory Miller, William Miller, all of Flint, Michael Davis of Lansing, MI, Dwayne(Renee) Franklin of Ypsilanti, MI and Mark Franklin of Phoenix, AZ; numerous grandnieces including special niece, Danielle (Roosevelt) Mizell; grandnephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Ocie and Mary Johnson, Min. Charles Woods, god-son, Rev. Al Williams and Bro. Willie Robbins. Arnett was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson & Willie B. Miller; 3 sisters, Jonetta (Floyd) Franklin, Merle Cobb and Joyce Lucile Miller; sister-in-law, Cenoria Miller.
