CHILDRESS, Mrs. Ardimichelle "Ardee" - Age 97, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with private funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Bishop Charles J. Johnson III, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Mrs. Childress will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday, December 28, 2021. Mother Ardimichelle “Ardee” Childress was born November 9, 1924 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Alice and James Percy Smith. She married Norman Childress in Memphis, TN and moved to Flint, Michigan in 1968. Mother Childress was a member of Deliverance Church Of God In Christ where she served as Church Mother and was President of the Prayer & Bible Band. She attended Baker College and received a Business Administration Certificate. Mother Childress retired from the City of Flint Treasurer’s Office in 1989. She loved to cook and she loved her family and church family. Mother Ardimichelle “Ardee” Childress leaves to cherish her memory: 4 children, Norman Childress Jr. of Flint, Phyllis Childress of Swartz Creek, MI, Phillip Childress of Memphis, TN and Sandra Childress of Panama City, FL; grandchildren, Jactesha Childress of Atlanta, GA, Quomon Thompson of Flint, Shanell Brewington, Joi Childress, both of Jacksonville, FL, Marne’ Burmeister of Land O’Lakes, FL and Theo Childress of Grand Blanc, MI; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including honorary grandchildren, Bruce Moore, Katrina Smith and Deandrea Smith; and special daughter, Wendy Pippins-Simon. Mother Childress was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Childress; parents, Alice and James Percy Smith; 3 sisters, Veletta Walthall, Alice “Sweetie” Love and Cleo Dobson; 4 brothers, Charles Smith, Dionysus Smith, James Percy Smith and Preston Smith; and daughter, Jacqueline Thompson who passed 12/19/21.
