SMITH, Mrs. Annie R.- Age 75 passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, at her residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Monday, January 31, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Family and friends will assemble at the Funeral Home, 1:30 PM Monday. Mrs. Smith will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM Sunday.Mrs. Annie Ruth Smith was born December 23, 1946 in Rison, Arkansas, the daughter of Ruthie Willingham and Cleo Meekins. Annie enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing and watching her stories, “Bold and the Beautiful.” She also enjoyed spending time with family (grands) and keeping up with the latest news. Annie’s characteristics were, she was loud, bossy, stubborn, a know-it-all and very wise. She was known for “cussing somebody out”, a cancer survivor and a resident of the City of Flint. She was a member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. Annie was employed at Universal Automotive, Salvation Army and various other commercial cleaning jobs. Mrs. Annie Ruth Smith leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Roy Smith; daughter, Fredricka Jenkins; son, Rod Jenkins; 2 step-children, Sirena Childress and Laquita (Bruce) Horton, all of Flint; grandchildren, Matika Nickson of Tupelo, MS, Sterling Jenkins, Diamond Terry, KanJanekia Terry, Elijah Jenkins, Shakira Jenkins, TyRome Moore II, Sunai Jenkins, TyQuise Moore, Aubree Horton, Alysia Horton, Julius Horton and Skyelar Horton; great-grandchildren, Keyleigh Sims, Koriah Everett, both of Tupelo, MS, Karter Jenkins, Josiah Kemp, Jaxson Ewell and Aden Kemp; step-mother, Birdie Meekins of Gary, IN; 4 brothers, Cleo Meekins Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, William Willingham of Saginaw, MI, Benny Meekins of Newport News, VA and Marc Meekins of Desoto, TX; 18 nieces and nephews; 8 aunts; 6 uncles; cousins, Rosie McCollum of Texas, Anthony Williams of Flint and many others; mother & father-in-law, Mary Francis and Edward Lester Smith of Rockford, IL; 3 sisters-in-law, Shelia (Keith) Curry of Rockford, IL, Brenda Torrence of Camden, AR and Alicia Jones of Freeport, IL; 3 brothers-in-law, Clayborn (Kimberly) Smith of Rockford, IL, Roosevelt Smith of Fort Worth, TX and Robert Smith of Madison, WI, a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Helen Hayman of Flint, Asia Fulgham of Atlanta, GA, Shareka Leslie, Robert Meekins (cousin), Ahmad Grant (god-son) and Charlie Brewer (cousin), all of Flint. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her daughter, Tonya Jenkins; parents, Ruthie Willingham and Cleo Meekins; grandparents, Ella Mae Jarret and C.J. Watkins; sister, Shelia Meekins; brother, J.T. Watkins; cousin, B.J. McCoy; best friend, La’Vinya Ross; Norella and Riley Nelson and nephew, Johnathan Meekins.
