November 12, 1992 - May 8, 2022

BURNS, Ms. Amber Levona - Age 29, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, May 20, 2022, at Jackson Memorial Temple C.O.G.I.C., 3155 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Ms. Burns will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Ms. Amber Levona Burns was born on November 12, 1992 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of George Burns Jr. and Felicia Ritchie. As a child, she was baptized at New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Fred S. White. She later joined Jackson Memorial Temple Church Of God In Christ when Elder Sean Brown was the pastor. Amber liked to read her bible and work with the Youth Department of Jackson Memorial Temple COGIC. She attended Flint Community Schools, graduating from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 2011.” After high school, Amber attended Baker College and obtained her Associate Degree with Honors in 2018. Amber was very proud to be an American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certified Medical Assistant. She was very focused in her nursing studies and strived to do her very best. Amber was all about helping people and took her career seriously. Amber’s hobbies included cooking, baking, art, drawing and reading. She was especially fond of the Twilight series. Amber also loved everything about the Japanese culture, especially anime cartoons. She often spoke of wanting to visit Japan and even taught herself the Japanese language. Amber loved her family and was definitely a “Daddy’s Girl”. She was one of the fifteen Burns grandchildren and known affectionately as “Am”, “Amber Lou” or just “Lou Lou”. She will be remembered as having a very distinctive and infectious laugh/giggle. Also, she was very good with all children and was very close to her nieces and nephew. Ms. Amber Levona Burns leaves to cherish her memories: loving father, George Burns Jr. of Flint; loving mother, Felicia Ritchie; sister, Angel Johnson; 3 brothers, Jonathan Miller, all of Milwaukee, WI, Jeremy Burns and Justin Burns, both of Flint; 5 nieces, Jada Miller, Jordyn Miller, Adrianna Johnson, Arianna Johnson, all of Milwaukee, WI and Willow Grace Burns; nephew, Jace Ball; 2 grandmothers, Bertha Burns and Alita Ritchie; 3 aunts, Twana (Craig) Simpson, all of Flint, Cynthia Burns of Flushing, MI and Virginia (Rodney) Stocker of Grandy, NC; uncle, Bishop Eric A. (Kim) Burns of Huber Heights, OH; 11 Burns cousins from, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas; a host of other aunts, other uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Ebony Hall, Jamonica Curlin, Jacinta Green; special family member, Margaret Mims; god-mother, Doretha Powell; special cousin, Ryan Kelly; and family friend, Ryan Reeds. Amber was preceded in death by her grandfather, George Burns Sr.; uncles, Tommy Ritchie Sr. and Howard James Turner; aunt, Nancy Hodo; and great-grandmother, Lula Bell Thompson. The family would like to express special thanks to Bishop Eric A Burns and Galilee Church family, Supt. Kiemba Knowlin and Jackson Memorial Church family, Pastor Joseph Jenkins and New Heaven Church family.
