MAY, Mr. Allen Lee - Age 65, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Thursday, May 6, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Pastor Cynthia Watkins., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Thursday. Mr. May will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 8:00 AM Thursday until the time of service. Mr. Allen Lee May was born March 16, 1956 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Lora Lee Jackson and Archie Lee May. He attended Flint Community Schools where he graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1974” where he was Class President. This helped establish friendships that would endure throughout his life, and build a positive journey of a strong work ethic. Allen enjoyed playing sports, football, wrestling and running track. After graduating from high school he worked construction in 1975, while attending Mott Community College. In 1980, he graduated from Mott Community College and received his Plumbers License. Allen was a member of Local #370 for 30 years and was employed with General Motors Corporation for 29 years. He received numerous Certificates of Achievement in Locksmithing, Small Engine Repair, Welding and etc. Allen became a Licensed Journeyman Pipefitter, Steamfitter, Plumber and Welder. Allen learned from his grandmother, “Big Mama” early on the teaching about God as a child, that had an important impact on his view of life. He carried those teaching views into his adult life, of how to treat others. Allen loved being around family and friends. He also enjoyed playing cards especially when challenging his skilled. Allen enjoyed listening to old music and dancing. He also enjoyed black movies, history of our ancestors and the life they lived. Allen really looked forward to the Super Bowl Game every year, this is when Black Skilled Trade Club Members would get together and have a super bowl game gather. He enjoyed traveling and making new friends along the way. Mr. Allen Lee May leaves to cherish his memory: lifelong companion, Karen Dukes; daughter, Breanna L. Wilson of Flint; 2 sons, Koumba Timothy (Missy) May of Grand Blanc, MI and Jamal Johnson of Flint; grandchildren, Tylon May, Nadia May, Destiny Atkins and Seyoum May Jr.; 1 great-granddaughter; father, Arcie Lee May of Ohio; sisters, Denise (Dale) Thomas of Flint, Floradean Jackson Williams (Larry) Brown of Detroit, Shani May, Michelle May, Tonita May, all of Cleveland, OH; brother, Michael (Portiha) May of Virginia; uncle, Rudolph Armstrong; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friend, Ruby from Ohio. Mr. May was preceded in death by his son, Seyoun May; mother, Lora Lee Jackson; grandparents, Elizbeth and Dennis Jackson; aunts, Lydia Armstrong, Louise Johnson and June Armstrong; uncle, Frank Armstrong.
