CURRY, Mr. Alfonzo - Age 51, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, October 21, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Thursday. Mr. Curry will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM- 6:0 PM Wednesday, with family present from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Alfonzo Demetrius “Man” Curry began his earthly life on January 17, 1970 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan, to the proud parents, Alfonzo Dantzler Jr. and Rosie Ann Curry. On October 12, 2021 while at Hurley Medical Center, Alfonzo transitioned from life to eternity by answering the call to go home to his mansion. Alfonzo accept Jesus as his person Savior at an early age. He was baptized at the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Charlie Thrower where he served faithfully on the Young Adult Usher Board during his teenage years. Alfonzo was a loving and compassionate person which caused him to seek his first employment career with Nursing Homes. He later became employed at Northgate where he worked until he became ill. Alfonzo was a graduate of Flint Central High School where he started on the Junior Varsity Basketball Team wearing the number 10 jersey. He enjoyed sitting in a chair in his mother’s bedroom watching certain contemporary gospel videos. Alfonzo thought he was the king of barbecuing. Every Sunday that he could, he would be out back on the grill to give his mother a break from cooking all week. He also enjoyed painting and doing little handy man chores. Alfonzo loved family gatherings and discussing scriptures from the Bible, but more than all these things combined he was blessed because he knew the Lord and truly loved the Lord with all his heart. Mr. Alfonzo Demetrius “Man” Curry leaves to cherish his memory: parents, Alfonzo Jr. and Rosie Dantzler; grandfather, Alfonzo Dantzler; 2 sisters, Torrie (Ed) Stanley, all of Flint and Precious (Victor) Miller of Charlotte, NC; god-sister, Mesohie Hardy of Flint; great-aunt, Donna Young; 8 aunts; 7 uncles; 11 nieces; 4 nephews, 1 great-niece; and 1 great-nephew; special cousins, Jason Gooch, Larry “Deek” Walker, Rashad Humphries, Tatianna Young; best friend, Shane Williams. Mr. Curry was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Curry, Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Dixon and Mary Dixon, Noneatha Dantzler; aunts, Mary Lee Stubbs and Dorothy Tedford; uncle, Donnell Dixon; and cousin, Allison Dixon. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center 4th Floor ICU, Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart, House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, family and friends for your support and prayers during this time.
