JACKSON, Mr. Albert Benjamin - Age 91, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Willowbrook Manor. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, February 22, 2019 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Rev. Dr. Henry Fuller, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Jackson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday. Albert Benjamin Jackson, 91, of Flint MI passed in peace on Sunday February 10th 2019. He was born in Huttig, Arkansas, on March 17th 1927, son of Matthias and Matilda (Highshaw)Jackson. Albert accepted Christ at a young age and was a founding member of Mt Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he was once a treasurer, deacon, charter member and Sunday school teacher. Albert was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1946 during the WWII era. After the military, Albert found his way north to Buffalo NY and then Michigan where he began life anew. Albert retired from General Motors Chevy plant 5 in 1977. After retirement, Al worked as a taxi driver and a security officer at Mott College. Albert loved to lend a hand whenever possible. He tutored students at Buell elementary school, taught Sunday school, and was a Big brother in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America program. Most of all Albert was a song bird and loved to sing. He was a cherished and dedicated Past Master of the Eureka Lodge #16, where he was also in the Gospel Light Glee club that performed all around the States. His voice could always be distinguished and heard above all others. We will forever hear his song. Albert was known for his quick wit and “one liners.” He had an infectious laugh that would make you laugh along with him. And let’s not forget about the stories, oh the stories. He told stories that would have everyone on the edge of their seats wanting more and since he lived such a long life....he always had many, many stories. Albert was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending sporting events. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling and collecting rare currency. He is survived by four children; Alvera Jackson Cobb; Cheryl (George) Mays, Alicia Moton all of Flint, John (Linda) Moton Jr., of Saginaw MI, and ex son-in-law Jamez Cobb of Flint; sister Vertie (Otis) Taylor of Flint. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Albert was preceded in death by his mother, father, wife Gaynelle Jackson; eldest daughter Lynn (Moton) Pollard; sisters Ruth Miles; Mildred Fuller; and Lydia Grandison.
