AUSTIN, Mother Agnes P. - Age 86, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Rev. Dr. Reginald Flynn, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mother Austin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM- 6:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Agnes P. Austin went peacefully home to be with her heavenly Father Sunday, January 2nd, 2022. Agnes was born January 19, 1935 in Lexington, Mississippi. She moved to Flint, Michigan, where she was reunited, courted and married to Charles, her high school sweetheart. The union produced four children, Patricia, Jerome, Norma and Vildred. Agnes was gainfully employed at Genesee Coverall and later General Motors Fisher Body until retirement. Agnes was a dedicated wife and mother, raising their children and helping to raise and support her sibling, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, the youth of her Foss Avenue Baptist Church family, neighborhood children and extended family created through marriage, places of employment and where ever she may have connected with others through the many ministries she led and/or was an active member. Agnes became and remained an active member of the Foss Avenue Baptist Church where she served faithfully as President of the FABC Floral Club, member of the FABC Choir, in the Decorating and Kitchen Ministries. After retirement, husband and wife ran a successful upholstery business. She enjoyed gardening, creating floral arrangements for the church, bowling, watching westerns, Wheel of Fortune and most recently using her tablet to connect on Facebook with family, extended family and friends throughout the country. Agnes Austin’s life is cherished by: three daughters, Patricia, Norma and Vildred; grandchildren, Doris (John), Felicia, Ashaunde’, Eric (Bianca) Dion (Jackie), Precious, Cymiahn, LeKeta, Eujenia (Sheron), Robert, Richard (Sherri), Ebony (Joel), Michelle; many other grandchildren and great-grand-children; brothers through marriage, Aaron, Clarence and Keith; nieces, Ramona, Rotrece and Anita (Alfred); nephews, Ed Jr. (Sylvia), Darshal, Gregory, Ronald (Colleen) and Stephen; several great-nieces and great-nephews; her dearest friend and Sister-in-Christ, Orine Peoples; her many brothers and sisters in Christ through the Foss Avenue Baptist Church, many close friends and neighbors from Chatham Dr, Beecher, Juliah Street and Home Avenue. The family members that transitioned before Agnes are: mother, Sallie Morgan; husband, Charles; son, Jerome; daughter through marriage, Elaine; sisters, Bertha (William) Rice and Mary, Jeanette; nieces, Helene and Rubie Mae; nephews, Anthony, Dennis and Frederick; cousins, Gloria Jean, Junior and Alfred. Special Acknowledgement to Norma, Mr. & Mrs. Sheron and Eujenia Ragland, their children and grandchildren that always brought a joyous smile, laugh and continuous “fountain of youth” and care giving, Ms. LeKeta Davis, Mrs. Doris Henderson, Mr. & Mrs. Clarence & Betty Mitchell, Rudy Caldwell and Gladys Quarles for unasked and continuous care, support and acts of love and kindness.
