Ms. Zondra Yvette Thorn

THORN, Ms. Zondra Yvette - Age 63, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, April 28, 2023, at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Alfred Harris Jr., officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Friday. Mrs. Thorn will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Ms. Zondra Y. Stokes-Thorn was born February 28, 1960 in Muskegon, Michigan, the daughter of Lucille Stokes and Kane Stokes. Zondra graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and attended Grand Valley State University shortly after high school and obtained some college education. In 1983, she became a resident of Flint, Michigan. In 1998, she became a member of Ebenezer Ministries and in 2002 she transferred her membership to Cornerstone Freshwater Ministries. Zondra worked as a Nurse Aid for many years until she became employed by Aramark until 2019. She enjoyed shopping, writing poems, spending time with family, eating good, looking good, singing, being creative with arts & crafts, and cracking jokes. To be around her was just simply a good time, as she would say “never a dull moment!” Zondra was also a member of the Red Hatter Group Extraordinary. She always made sure she was there to help her family and friends. Ms. Zondra Y. Stokes-Thorn leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Kia (Ryan) Whitfield and Janelle Thorn; 4 sons, Steven (Bianca) Thorn, Jujuan Thorn, Kevin Thorn and David Thorn; grandchildren, Kiandre Jones, Kindia Whitfield, Chloe Thorn-Chaffer, Cameron Chaffer, Jaxon Thorn, Da’Naeja Thorn, David Thorn Jr., Dai’zjah Mackey, Journi Williams, Evan Thorn, McKenzie Thorn and Jackson Day; sister, Toni Myles; a host of niece, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Ms. Stokes-Thorn was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Thorn; granddaughters, Kortni Stokes-Whitfield and Danielle Mackey; parents, Lucille and Kane Stokes; brothers, Blane Stokes, Gregory Stokes and Roger Stokes. The family would like to express special thanks to her god-daughter, Roshawnda Williams, Fresenius Kidney Care-West Flint, Michigan Vascular Center of Flint, McLaren-Flint and Davina Cohill.
