TUCKER, Mrs. Yvonne E. - Age 86, passed away Monday, December 30, 2024 at Brookdale Memory Care, Troy, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton Ave., followed by Alpha Kappa Alpha service at 11:00 AM and funeral service commencing at 11:30 AM, Pastor Allen C. Overton Sr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Tucker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Public Viewing will be held only during the family hour. Yvonne Elizabeth McFee was born December 13, 1938 in Pontiac, Michigan to Grady Eugene and Mamie Lee Williams McFee. She attended Pontiac Public Schools; graduating from Pontiac High School in 1955 at age 17. After graduating, Yvonne enjoyed returning to Pontiac to attend alumni high school holiday parties. While growing up in Pontiac, Yvonne attended Newman African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church where she was an active member until moving to Ypsilanti, Michigan to attend Eastern Michigan University (EMU). She loved returning to Newman AME Church to visit and support events. Yvonne earned both her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education (1959) and her Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education (1966) from EMU. While at EMU, she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. through Xi chapter and subsequently became active with the Zeta Beta Omega graduate chapter in Flint, Michigan. She had over a 65-year membership in the sorority and was considered a Pearl Member. Because of her last name, McFee, she was affectionally known as “Phoebe” by her Pontiac and EMU friends. She was also known as “Aunt Fee” by several of her future nephews before getting married. Yvonne moved to Flint and started her teaching career in 1959. She worked many years at various schools including Jefferson, Martin, Cummings, and Potter elementary schools. She had an outstanding career doing what she loved, educating students. She retired in 1992 after 33 years of dedicated service. Yvonne met Milton Eugene Tucker and they were united in holy matrimony on November 24, 1961 in Pontiac, Michigan. They were married 59 ½ years until his death in 2021. They were members of Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for over 60 years. She was an alto in the Voices of Christ Fellowship Choir as well as the Voices of Canaan Choir. She enjoyed attending Sunday School, participating in various auxiliaries, and supporting the Ophelia Bonner Scholarship Committee. Yvonne enjoyed doing community service. She was a member of Jack & Jill of America (Flint chapter) and served as the treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Flint Branch NAACP, a volunteer with the Friends of the Flint Public Library, and the Flint Kappa Alpha Psi Silhouettes. She loved travelling to the various conventions and other destinations. She was also a founding sixty-year member of the Tucker and Ward (T & W) Family Club and served for many years as the corresponding secretary. Yvonne enjoyed listening to gospel music and her favorite song was “When I Rose This Morning” by The Mississippi Mass Choir. She also enjoyed playing the piano for her parents, family, and students and occasionally filled in at church. She would at times play the piano on the weekends while living at Brookdale. Yvonne loved her family and leaves to cherish her memory: children, Myron Tucker of Detroit, Michigan and Dr. Yvette (Dwight) Collins of Lathrup Village, Michigan; step-daughter, Alvetta Crutcher of Fayetteville, North Carolina; nieces, Franza (Joseph) Lewis, Regina Willis, Carol Tucker, Saadia Lee, Brenda Hunter, Bonnie Dickens, and Sondra Riggins; nephews, Jimmie (Edith) Tucker Jr., Vernon Perkins, Rudy (Geneva) Ward, Thurman Tucker, Duane (Robin) Tucker, Craig (Paula) Tucker, Trent Tucker, and including Paul Jones and Patrick Jones; cousins, Minnie (Anthony) Whiting, Arlene Taylor, Joseph Churchwell III, Roger Jackson, Norris Jackson and the Williams, Jackson and Montague families; three Godsons, Anthony Ward, Keenan Humphrey, and Jason Jones; long-time friends, Delores (Pat) and Lonnie Humphrey, Hayes Jones and family, and Myra Hughes; loving neighbor, Ann Ferrell; and a host of grand nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Milton E. Tucker; parents, Grady E. and Mamie L. McFee; sister, Ramona Maxine McFee (who died two days after birth); father and mother-in-law, William and Mary Tucker; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Yvonne was a beautiful and classy woman. She was caring, loving and giving.
