MORRIS-MATTHEW, Mrs. Yvonne - Age 61, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at her residence. Mrs. Morris-Matthew will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, Friday, March 11, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Mrs. Yvonne Morris-Matthew was born August 22, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois. The daughter of Mr. Jofus T. Morris and Cleopatra Morris. Mrs. Yvonne Morris-Matthew confessed Christ at an early age at Foss Avenue Baptist Church under the leader of Dr. Avery Aldridge. She finished her course with Christ at Second Chance Church under the leadership of Pastor Derrick A. Aldridge. In 1991 Yvonne married the joy of her life Mr. Brian A. Matthew and to this union a son First-Class Petty Officer Brian A. Matthew II. Mrs. Yvonne moved to Flint, Mi., in 1961. She attended Flint Community Schools and was a 1978 graduate of Flint Northwestern High School. She furthered her education at the University of Michigan. Yvonne decided that her calling was helping people, so she changed her course in life to become a nurse. Yvonne attended Hurley Medical Center School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Yvonne has worked in numerous hospitals including Hurley Medical Center Flint, Mi., Texas Children's Hospital Houston, Tx., Los Angeles Children’s Hospital Hollywood, Ca., NSI Registry Beverly Hills, Ca. and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Torrance, Ca. She was skilled in baking her mother’s famous caramel cake which was a favorite to many. Mrs. Yvonne Morris-Matthew, leaves to cherish her sweet loving memories, husband of 31 years, Brian A. Matthew of Grand Blanc, MI: One son First-Class Petty Officer Brian A. Matthew II of Alexandria, Va. Two brothers; Kevin (Teressa) Morris, Larry (Doretha) Morris, all of Flint, Mi.; Eight nieces including two special nieces Marissa Matthew of Los Angeles, Ca., Akeeya Gardin of Grand Blanc, Mi., Leneice Proby of Columbus, OH, Laurie Cooley, Janaye Morris, Sharlene Cooley, Alandra Bell, Teri Cooley, Jaslyn (Seth) Kindel, Javonna Morris, Kristine (John) Love. Four nephews; Dewayne (Kristina) Allen, Steven Cooley, Ryan Morris, Kevin Morris II all of Flint and Grand Blanc, Mi. Fifteen great nieces and nephews; Melisa Adams, Charles Whitley, D’Anna Benford, Terrance Sealy Jr, Zaria Sealy, DeWayne Allen II, KaMea Allen, Kristian Allen, Amyah Woodyard, Jamon Jones, Jaleel Weston, Keazia Peterson, Aubree Coleman, Kevin Morris III, Ashton Guyton; One great-great nephew; Cairo Sealey. God-son Jeremiah Boyld. Two brothers-in-law; Ralph Matthew of Los Angles, Ca., and Walter Banner of Sacramento, Ca. A host of other relatives, and friends including special friend-sister Priscilla (Ron) Boyd. Special cousins from Los Angeles, Yvette Daniels, Janine Goodbear, Michelle Stevens, Pamela Grant, Cynthia Grant of Las Vegas, Nv.; Special friends; Kurt Rogers, Calvin (Brenda) Lewis. Mrs. Yvonne Morris-Matthew was preceded in death by parents Jofus and Cleopatra Morris, brother Andre Morris. Father and mother-in-law Charlie (Theresa) Matthew.
