WESLEY, Sister Yolanda Jene "Bam" - Age 40, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Friday, May 15, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Rev. Willie C. Towner officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Friday. Sister Wesley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2PM-8PM Thursday. Sister Yolanda “Bam” Jene Wesley was born November 7, 1968 in Flint, MI., the daughter of George & Annie Wesley. Sister Wesley lived in Flint and was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and ministered to others by way of her poetry. Yolanda believed that “it takes all of us to make the world a better place.” She had a passion for life saying, “I’m happy as can be, feeling good about what the Lord has done for me.” Without a doubt those words ring true even today as she lies within the warm embrace of the Lord. Sister Wesley loved her family more than words can express. She was a published author who left her Poetry as part of her legacy. Yolanda was a never-ending source of encouragement, always there for anyone who needed her. Her heart was filled with a light that will shine forever. Sister Wesley leaves to cherish her memory: mother, Annie Mae Wesley; sisters, Jessie Fay (Henry) Jones, Gwendolyn (David) Williams, Ernestine (Micheal) Starling, Katherleen (Kevin) Wesley and Flora (Jonathan) Hodges, all of Flint; brothers, William Skinner of Newton, MS, George (Saundra) Wesley, Joe Wesley Jr., David Wesley and Marvin Ester, all of Flint; 16 nieces; 10 nephews; 6 aunts including, Lovie Evans and Patricia Coleman, both of Flint; uncle, Joe Wesley of Jackson, MS; many cousins; a host of other relatives & friends including special friend Patricia Nettles. Sister Wesley was preceded in death by her father, George Wesley Jr.; sister, Annie Wesley; grandmothers, Maude and Flora Evans; aunts, Olia Mae Wesley and Lula Mae Smith; uncles, James Wesley, Wesley “Cat” and Alonzo Evans. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, DaVita Dialysis Center and Heritage Manor for their many years of caring and support.
