MCCHESTER, Mrs. Wisie - Age 85, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, November 17, 2022, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:0 AM Thursday. Mrs. McChester will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Wisie Lee McChester, born in Wheatley, Arkansas on July 19, 1937 to the late Mary Lee Tucker and late Havester Hall. Sadly, she passed away at her Flint, Michigan residence on November 5, 2022. After losing her mother to pneumonia at the age of twelve, she began a lifetime of raising children, starting with her own siblings. In 1954, she married James Applewhite in Brinkley, Arkansas, and gave birth to the first of her five baby girls. After the family relocated to Memphis, TN, she would spend her time as a devoted housewife and mother. As life in the south got harder, she found the courage to move her girls to Flint, MI for a better life in 1960, as a single mom who truly loved the lord. Once she arrived, she quickly began working diligently selling Avon while working various jobs throughout the years at the Masonic Temple as a cook, at Hurley Hospital as a Sanitation Specialist, volunteering with the Sheriff's department for community support, countless hours providing in-home health care and selling Mary Kay while consistently ensuring her girls attended church, having them baptized at Foss Avenue Baptist Church. As life went on, and her girls grew up and went in various directions Wisie became a devoted member of God’s Tabernacle of Truth Church until its recent closing. While working hard, raising her family and caring for her community; she met Willie McChester who she would go on to marry in September of 1967. Graduating from Beecher High School with a diploma and completing studies at Jordan College would be some of her most cherished accomplishments. She loved to make a good meal, play Bid Whist and have a funky good time. Always looking fabulous, always willing to extend her heart, instilling good morals and the importance of family in us, Mrs. Wisie McChester was our best friend. Around 1964 she joined the Order of the Eastern Stars, becoming a member of Rose of Sharon Lodge # 4 @ 4212 Maines St. Sister McCHESTER joined Cape Jasmine Chapter # 2 O.E.S. Sis. McCHESTER went on to make her love of the order known. She then became Worthy Matron. She moved up & became P.Royal Matron to “Willie Meeks “Amaranth” Benevolent Ct. #5., Past & Current sitting Most Worthy Grand Matron to Beauty Rose Ct. #5 Heroines of Jericho. Past Chief Counsellor of Holy Cross Council # 4 and Lady of Knights. Past Most Worthy Grand Matron of Mecca Court # 5 Daughters of Sphinx. Royal Lady Sheba Palace #1. Sister McCHESTER also held the title of Grand Ruth for Greater Queen Esther Grand Chapter. Supervisor of Geneva Bolden Field of Morals was of her passions. Sis McCHESTER also favored her Royal Lady’s title with Dignity & Pride, was a member of the Elks and enjoyed her Foxy Ladies bowling team.Throughout her life she filled many rooms with love and joy. Mrs. Wisie Lee McChester was preceded in death by Mary Lee Tucker, Havester Hall Ruth “Madea” Jefferson, James Applewhite, Willie McChester, Gloria Dean Jordan, Levone Hall, Othelia Jordan, Odi Lee Jordan, Sophy Tucker and Porsha Jordan. Mrs. Wisie Lee McChester leaves to cherish her memory: children, Carolyn Daniels, Debra Applewhite, Barbara Applewhite, Bonnie Bowman, and Gwen Evans; grand children, Deshon Applewhite, Deondre Daniels, LaKenya Jones, Desondra Bowman, Corlanda Bowman-Williams, Manual Bowman III, Stanisha Evans-Snellson, Sabah Leena Bey (Javalynn Evans), Andrell Evans and Suprina Deats; host of great-grandchildren; great great-grandchildren; brother, Lilton (Sam) Tucker; niece, Rolanda Jordan; and a host of other relatives and friends. The Family would like to express special thanks to Dr. S K Vemuri, Dr. Chambers, Dr. Wadenstoror, Dr. Aurora, Hospice medical team, Amazing Grace Eve Ministries, Mt. Pisqah Baptist Church, Min. Adelaide Evans, Alice Evans, numerous family members, Adelle Harris and other special friends.
