Winnie Griddine

GRIDDINE, Mrs. Winnie Mae - Age 81, passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 12Noon Monday, January 12, 2009 at First Union Missionary Baptist Church, 7004 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing at 1PM. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12Noon Monday. Mrs. Griddine will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-6PM Sunday. Mrs. Winnie Mae Griddine was born May 12, 1927 in Rison, Arkansas, the daughter of Wade and Hattie Mobley. Winnie became a member of Union Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She later moved to FlintI where she became a member of First Union Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of the late Rev. Archie Powell, Sr. Ms. Winnie worked at McLaren Regional Hospital for 20 years until an injury prevented her from nursing. In 1979, she moved back to Arkansas to care for her father. She became a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church where the Rev. G.L. Ford is the pastor. Ms. Winnie was a member of the choir, taught Sunday School, President of the Missionary Society and served in many other capacities of this church. She was a very faithful and dedicated member. In 2007, she returned back to Michigan and reunited with her church family at First Union with the Rev. Archie Powell, Jr. as pastor. Ms. Winnie hobbies were fishing, bowling, watching T.V., traveling and most of all she loved doing childcare. Mrs. Winnie Mae Griddine leaves to cherish her memory: her 13 children, Ruthie (Tracy) Hill of Flint, MI, Mary May of Clio, MI, Patty Armour (Eston Ford) of Pine Bluff, AR, Johnnie Malone (Georgia), Terry (Cindy) Malone both of Fordyce, AR, James Turner (Marlene), Helen Boaz both of Flint, Vincent Boaz of Afghanistan, Juanita Harris of Milwaukee, WS, Jeffery Griddine of TX, Geraldine Turner, Clarence Turner both of Chicago, IL and Ricky Turner of Detroit, MI; approximately 53 grandchildren, 112 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grand children; daughter-in-law, Miss’y Ora Lee Frazier of Flint; Sherby Frazier of Monticello, AR; sister-in-law, Margaret (Irvin) and Hattie Griddine both of TX; brother-in-law, David Griddine of LasVegas, NV; goddaughter, Levon Spencer; special friends cousin, Christine Cuba of Flint and Ms. Mary Smith of Pine Bluff, AR; best friend, Ms. Ruthie Dobie. Mrs. Griddine was preceded in death by husband, J.D. Griddine; 2 sons, Frank Frazier, Gene Frazier and Darrell Malone; and parents, Wade and Hattie Mobley.
