BROWN, Mrs. Williphine - Age 75, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at McLaren - Flint. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Sean Thompson officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Brown will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Williphine Brown was born August 10, 1939 in Sumpter, North Carolina, the daughter of Willie and Teretha Brown. She married Cornelius Brown, Sr. and settled down in Flint, Michigan to raise a family. Williphine was many things in her life, but she was a God fearing, devoted Christian who leaned on her faith to guide her through life. She was co-founder and member of First New Life Baptist Church. Her hobbies included ceramics, reading, singing, poetry, science fiction and yes she liked and occasional scary movie. It is true that she was a dedicated wife and mother, but she was also a friend, counselor, disciplinarian, sister and daughter. She was also a housekeeper, auto worker, poet, mentor, community volunteer, grandmother and always "Sunshine". Her loss will be hard felt by: sons, Charles (Lashell) Brown of Flint, Willie (Delores) Brown of Glendale, AZ and Cornelius (Xiaorong Rao) Brown of Lake Charles, LA; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Gabriella Pilgrim of Long Island, NY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends, including her extended family at Willowbrook Manor of Flint. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by: her husband, Cornelius Brown Sr.; son, Jiles E. Brown; parents, Willie and Teretha Brown. The family would like to express special thanks to Cornell, Veronica, John, Stephanie, Alexia, Charlotte and Tennett, Jiles Jr., Mardell, Angela and Cornelius Brown III. The family would also like to thank Ruth, Reggie, and Daryl McGill, Ray Miller, Donald Ray and Nevalon Mitchell Jr., Dierdre Townsend and the Pittman families for their close personal support over the years. We cannot list everyone, but thanks to all and to James McGill who passed away in November, We miss you too!
