VICKERS, Mr. Willie Jr. - Age 89, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Vickers will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with Funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Friday, April 24, 2020. There will be no public viewing. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. Willie Vickers Jr. on Monday, April 13, 2020 at his residence, at the age of 89. He was born October 24, 1930 in Scooba, Mississippi to Willie and Dissie Vickers. At the age of 24, he began his career as a Skilled Tradesman for Fisher Body and retired after serving 34 years with General Motors Corporation. After retirement, Mr. Vickers devoted his time to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching western movies and listening to the “Blues!” He was very avid about cars, in particular his classic Ford LTD he named, “Black Beauty!” Mr. Vickers was a hard-working man, who never liked to sit still. He always found a way to keep busy around the house. He had a beautiful sense of humor and found a way to bring laughter to anyone he came in contact with! In 1953, Willie married his lifelong partner and best friend, Pearl May (Hobbs) Vickers. Mr. Willie Vickers Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: devoted and loving wife of 66 years, Pearl M. Vickers; 8 daughters, Donna Fields of Burton, MI, Norma “Shorty” (Charles) Polk of Burton, MI, Barbara Hurtt of Arlington, TX, Terri (Sylvester) Horn of Atlanta, GA, Laurie Jones of Vine Grove, KY, Glenda “Minnie” (Kenneth) Perkins of Flint Township, MI, Belinda “Red” Vickers of Flint Township, MI and Paulette (Donovan) James of Decatur, GA; 3 sons, Ronnie, Willie James, and Marvin Vickers, all of Flint, MI; 25 grandchildren (including special granddaughter, JeKyla Vickers; 29 great grandchildren; 1great-great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Vickers was preceded in death by his parents, Willie, Sr. and Dissie (Reed) Vickers; brothers, Otis C., Jimmy Jack, George, Matthew, James, and Ernest Vickers, Sr.; sisters Emma (Vickers) Stanley, Lillie Bea (Vickers) Spencer and Fanny Lee (Vickers) Randall.
