TURNER, Mr. Willie - Age 68, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Hurley. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, January 9, 2025, at First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. 1226 Beach St, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Ronald Bobo Sr., Host Pastor, Min. Capus Robinson Jr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, 9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Turner, Jr. will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Willie Lee Turner Jr., affectionately known as “Rat,” was born on October 14, 1957, in Flint, Michigan, to Willie Lee Turner Sr. and the late Pearline Turner. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and lived his life rooted in faith. Willie graduated from Flint Southwestern High School in 1975. He set major milestones as a proud “Colt. Leaving a legacy of records in basketball, track, & including high jump. Many still unbroken today. He continued his education at Western Michigan University In 1977. Willie began a career with General Motors, where he worked faithfully for 42 + dedicated years before retiring in 2019. A testament to his dedication and strong work ethic. In 1990, Willie started the CA fellowship “Don’t Pick Up” meeting at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. What began as a small effort grew into a cornerstone ministry that continues to this day impacting countless lives. Willie was a true friend to all …honest, kind, and full of laughter. His humor could brighten even the darkest days, and his generosity knew no limits. He would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. Living out God’s call to love and serve others. Truly special in every way, he walked by faith and leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, compassion, and grace. While he will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing he now rests in God’s eternal care, and his spirit will live on through all whose lives he’s touched. Willie’s favorite pastimes included fishing, watching basketball, and football. Especially his favorite team, the Detroit Lions. He also enjoyed playing cards, and most of all, spending time with his family. Family meant everything to him. He was truly a GIRL Dad. Saddened as we are by his passing on Sunday, December 28, 2025, his appreciation for life and the joy he brought into our lives remain lasting tributes to the vital kind person he was. Willie was united in holy matrimony to his loving and devoted wife Deborah for 25 wonderful years. Mr. Willie Lee Turner Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Deborah Turner of Oakland, California; 3 three daughters, TaKesia (Aristotle) Collins of Flint, Michigan, J’Lisa (Ryan) Jordan of Houston, Texas and Ashlei Turner of Fort Worth, Texas; brother, Marvin (Betty) Turner of Flint, Michigan; 3 grandchildren, Alexis Cyre’ Collins of Flint, Michigan, Riley and Ryder Jordan of Houston, Texas; great-granddaughter, Aiya Ayires Edwards of Flint, Michigan; mother of his oldest 2 daughters, Sue (JB) Turner-Wright; 2 nephews, Marvin (Koli) Turner and Rodney (Marisa) Halford; niece, Dr. Brittne (Kevin) Halford; aunts, Inez Lewis, Frances Williams and Hazel Turner; mother-in-law, Erma Handy; and sister-in-law, Valencia Pickett, both of Oakland, California; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his wonderful mother, Pearline Turner; grandmothers, Hazel Henderson and Mamie Turner; uncle, James Lewis; aunts, Sara Guy, Grace Henderson, Dolly Henderson and Janie Mae Jackson; special cousin, Willie “Bug” Jackson Jr.; a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the entire ICU staff of Hurley Medical Center, Dr. Berrou; special nurses, Brittany Daniel and Al, respiratory therapist; Lawrence E.
