MEEKS-WALKER, Mrs. Willie Mae "Mary" - Age 63, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Satruday, March 26, 2011 at The Cross Missionary Baptist Church, 3063 W. Coldwater Rd., Mt. Morris, MI, with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Albert W. Hare officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Walker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Willie Mae (Mary) Meeks-Walker was born on January 16, 1948 in Greenwood, Mississippi, one of sixteen children to the late Joe Willie and Ella Wee Meeks. She attended Greenwood High School and later relocated to Flint, MI in 1966. Willie gave her life to the Lord at a young age and was a member of The Cross Missionary Baptist Church. She had a sweet spirit and a beautiful smile with a heart to match. One of the many things that she loved doing was always praying and spending some time with the Lord and she instilled that in her children. Willie also loved fishing, spending time with her children and grandchildren and lots of family and dear close friends. Mrs. Willie Mae (Mary) Meeks-Walker leaves to cherish her memories: former husband, David Walker; children, John Darnell, Carol Lynn and Elisa Ann Meeks, all of Flint; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, all of Flint; 9 sisters, Sarah Jane (Melvin) Garrett, Mary Ann (James) Issac, Diane (Jesse) Matthews and Suzette Meeks, all of Greenwood, MS, Mary Jane (Ford) Moore of Chicago, IL, Lorene (Bennie) Meeks, Ella Mae (Coy) Hildreth, Ernestine Hare and Emma Jean Meeks, all of Flint; 3 brothers, Johnnie (Judy) Meeks of Flint, Robert (Anita) Meeks, Roger (Bertha) Meeks, all of Greenwood, MS; a host of special nieces and nephews, other relatives including special brother, Richard (Lorna) Meeks; special cousin, Mary Lewis; special sister, Mattie (Troy) Carr. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jaquata Nunley; parents, Joe Willie and Ella Wee Meeks; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.
