Mother Willie Mae "Madea" Davis

DAVIS, Mother Willie Mae affectionately known as "Madea" - Age 94, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 at her residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at North Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1657 Broadway Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor James O. Flowers, Sr. officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, 5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mother Davis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Mother Willie Mae (Dixon) Davis, affectionately known as “Madea” was born February 28, 1920 in Minter City, MS, the daughter of Claiborne and Willie Anna (Scott) Dixon. She was a faithful member of North Star Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor James O. Flowers, Sr. Mother Davis was the oldest member of the church and served on the Mothers Board. She was a foster grandparent at the Hurley Medical Center Neo-Natal Unit for 25 years. Mother Davis enjoyed gardening, Sunday dinners and mentoring her children as well as her grandchildren. Mother Willie Mae Davis leaves to cherish her memory: 5 daughters, Dorothy Chappell, Helen Davis, Sylvia Young, Caroline Davis, all of Flint, MI and Bettie Britt of Grand Blanc, MI; son, Ollie (Audrey) Davis of Cleveland, OH; son-in-law, Henry Robinson of Grand Blanc, MI; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Joshua Dixon of Panama City, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Hattie Collins and Elizabeth Lee. Mother Davis was preceded in death by: husband Mack Davis; daughter, Rose Robinson and infant daughter, Walinda Davis; twin granddaughters, Ericka Edwards-Hubbard and Elaine Darlene Edwards; grandson, Eric Ryan Britt; parents, Claiborne and Willie Anna (Scott) Dixon; sisters, Pearl Young and Ollie Harold; brothers, Johnny Dixon and Jab Dixon; and special friend, Naomi Davis. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor James O. Flowers, Sr., D.D. and the North Star Missionary Baptist Church family, Heartland Hospice, Briarwood Manor, Dr. Jitendra Katneni and McLaren Flint Medical Center.
