JOHNSON, Mr. Willie B. "Bullet" - Age 84, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at his residence. Family hour 10am Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton, with funeral at 11am. Rev. Dr. Mark A. Jones, Sr. officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10am Saturday. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:30pm-8pm Friday. Mr. Willie Bernard “Bullet” Johnson was born March 16, 1929 in Monticello Mississippi, the son of Eizzie Johnson. He was baptized at an early age and was a member of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend Leroy Shelton. Believing in God, and standing firm for substance was the driving force “Bullet” repeatedly used throughout his life. He served in the US Army receiving an honorable discharge. After 30 years of dedicated service he retired from Buick Motor Division of General Motors. He was member of the UAW local 599 and a member of the Old Timers “Bullet” was an amazing person who was known by all as a sweet pleasant man with a warm genuine heart. He was a distinguished well dressed man and respected by all. He was simply a champion with an awesome smile. He cherished Sherry, his children, family and friends. He had a special love for the joy of his life, and the light of his eye, his baby girl Joi and a special love his grandson Dewayne. With his charming personality he made many friends and never met a stranger. He influenced others with his wisdom, life experiences, infectious sense of humor, his mild manner, allowing his wit and personality to permeate most all situations. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hanging-out with his friends and truly loved to talk. He was passionate for sweets, good food and was an adamant walker. As the Patriarch of his family, “Bullet” was a tenacious hard working man who strived with a determination to achieve and maintain security, and stable environment and for his family. He unselfishly made sacrifices for his family and gave unto them his unquestionable love. Mr. Willie “Bullet” Johnson made his transition peacefully in the arms of God and he especially leaves to cherish his precious memories: devoted common law wife and caregiver, Sherry Lindsay; 2 daughters, Joi (Steven) Askew of Atlanta, Georgia and Deborah Johnson of Washington, DC; 4 sons, Eddie (Ethel) Johnson of Mississippi, Willie Johnson and Greg Johnson, both of South Bend IN; 2 step-sons, Auburn Copeland and Markido Lindsay, both of Flint; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren including special grandsons; Shiraz (Laquita) Copeland and Dewayne (Destiny) Gillespie, special great-grandson, Shiraz Copeland Jr.; brother, John (Barbara) Johnson of Éclair, IN; former daughter-in-law, Crystal Ashburn-Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends survive including special friends, John Burnett, Edward Hilton, Louise Clark, Tonya “Anna Mae” Ellis, Latonya Jones, Larry White and too many more to mention. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Armezell “Dusty” Copeland; mother, grandmother; 4 brothers; and best friend, William “Pruitt” Allen. The family extends a heartfelt gratitude to Dewayne Gillespie and Destiny for unselfishly being “Bullet’s” caregivers during his time of illness, Dr. Josephine Bello, Davita Dialysis, Rev. Dr. Mark A. Jones, Sr. and the Christ Fellowship Church family, Hurley Medical Center, Mclaren-Flint, Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, the Walnut Square Apartment family and Donna (Fred) Poplar.
