Mr. Willie Lee James

JAMES, Mr. Willie - Age 78, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Tonya Bailey officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. James will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Willie Lee James, Sr. “Sank” was born December 13, 1935 in Moultrie, Georgia, the son of Arthur and Lucinda Williams. He loved Fried Chicken, cartoons, Cracklins, traveling, spending time with family and friends, fishing, playing spades, watching wrestling and football. Willie also loved eating Butter Scotch Candy, playing the organ, Fireballs, listening to Gospel Music and most importantly taking care of his dog, Taco He also cherished the days talking with his children on the phone and would always respond “who is this” when his kids called!. He retired from Buick City, a division of General Motors after 29 years of service. Willie drove for Red Ball Cab Company owing his own cab and he also founded “Your Ride.” Which is a well known transportation company in the Flint Community. He also owned many homes in the Flint area. Willie has lived in Bradenton, FL, Indianapolis, IN and Flint, MI. He enjoyed his last weeks on Earth spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Willie enjoyed his last birthday playing Spades with family. Mr. Willie Lee James, Sr. “Sank” leaves to cherish his memory: 4 daughters, Gwendollyn (Bernard) James of Indianapolis, IN, Tina (Michael) James of Flint, Angela James of Indianapolis, IN and Jessica (DeaSean) Spencer of Flint; 5 sons, Willie Lee (Lori) James, Jr. of Flint, Gary (Jen) James of Omar, WV, Jeffery James of Tampa, FL, Lonnie (Tabatha) Stannard of Shelbyville, IN and Billy (Alisha) Carey of Flint; 40 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Luther James; sister-in-law, Inez Ware, all of Palmetto, FL; a host of aunt, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including special niece, Betty Jean Sanders; special nephews, Tommie Ritchie and Gilbert Saunders. Mr. James was preceded in death by his daughter, Naomi James; son, Sonny Stingly; granddaughter, Jasmine Henning; parents, Arthur and Lucinda Williams; sister, Queen Esther Wheeler; brother, J.E.
