Mrs. Willie Anna Flynn

FLYNN, Mrs. Willie Anna - Age 81, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Elder Veotis Jones, Officiating, Pastor Alfred Harris Jr., Host Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Flynn will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday. Willie Anna Robinson-Flynn was born on July 28, 1942, in Brownsville TN, the daughter of Nelson and Flossie (Hafford) Robinson. The family relocated to Flint MI in 1955 where she attended Flint Community Schools graduating from Flint Northern Class of 1961. Shortly after graduation she enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. Willie Anna accepted Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church until her health started to decline. She loved to read her bible daily, watch religious tv ministries and enjoyed singing songs of Praise “off key” whenever the Spirit moved her. Willie Anna began her career working for the City of Flint starting at Hurley Hospital in the School of Nursing and then the Housing Commission as Housing Supervisor at Aldridge Place and Wilson Senior Apartments retiring after 27 years of dedicated service to the Flint community. While serving the residents of the City of Flint she always offered her support and words of encouragement. She never met a stranger, would help anyone and was highly respected by the residents and her colleagues. Auntie, as she was named by her nephew Jamal and lovingly called by all her nieces and nephews, loved spending time supporting anything they did. She loved to shop but before leaving the house she had to put on some lipstick and a little rouge “because you never knew who would be looking at you”, taking casino trips, planting flowers, eating out, traveling and spending time with her family at any event or holiday. She loved attending every family reunion and was our Family Historian. If you wanted to know who belonged to who, just ask Auntie. She was also a member of the senior community group 3ScoresandMore. She often said, “I love the life I’ve lived; I lived it right and treated everybody right”. “You won’t know what God will do for you if you don’t study the word” Willie Anna leaves to cherish her memory: One Sister Carmel Robinson-Fee of Sun City AZ and One Brother Marshall (Margaret) Robinson of El Cajon, CA Auntie also leaves to cherish her memory 14 Nieces: Audry Polk of Ripley, TN; Mildred Holloway-Evans, Rosie Marie Robinson, Elayne Harrison, Linda F. Robinson, Debra Robinson, Dewinter Holloway, Patricia Ramirez, Gracie Holloway, Dionne Robinson, Tonya Robinson, Denise Robinson and Deborah Holloway-Roberts all of Flint, MI. and Erika Warren of MD; 7 Nephews Dewayne (Carla) Holloway of Citrus Heights, CA., Michael N. Willie Anna also leaves one adopted Aunt, Mildred Smith; three Sister-in-laws Sally Robinson, Charlene Cabine of MI and Martha Burnett of GA; one Brother-in-law: Richard (Dorothy) Flynn of MI. A host of other relatives and friends including her goddaughter Redonna Banks and godson Lamar Edwards, very special friends Rosetta Haywood of GA, Clara (Carl) Brown, Trudy Nelms, Stancel (Ruth) Rushing, Daisy Johnson, Phyllis Jefferson, Elder J.W. Callahan and the Brown family all of Flint and the Evans family of Saginaw, MI. Willie Anna was preceded in death by Husband Loye Flynn; parents Nelson and Flossie Robinson; brothers Ned Johnson, Dan (Kaye) Robinson, Nelson Robinson, Marvin Robinson; sisters Rebecca Harley, Alma (Milton)Holloway and Daisy Tate; godbrother Wayne Clark; nephews Eldrett Holloway, Harold Robinson, Jerel Lamar and Corey Evans, Harold Monshay Robinson. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Peram and staff at Triumph Cancer Center, Dr. Sayed Sattar, the physicians and entire medical team on ICU at Hurley Medical Center, Minister Anthoy Floyd and Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home staff, Pastor Alfred Harris,Jr. and the New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church family.
