Mr. Willie James Fair

FAIR, Mr. Willie James - Age 76, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, March 14, 2025 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Lamar Griggs, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 10:00 AM Friday, March 14, 2025. Mr. Fair will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, March 13, 2025. The “Great” Mr. Willie James Fair was born December 27, 1948 in Crawford, Mississippi, the son of the late Mr. Buss Fair and Lillie Stalling-Fair. In 1976, he moved to Flint, Michigan. Willie attended Moore High School in Mississippi where he graduated and received his diploma. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Mississippi, where he was baptized. Once he reached Michigan, he joined Galilean Baptist Church. Willie loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. He was a dedicated and proud worker of 25 years and worked 24 years at Flint Chevy Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors Corporation and was a member of UAW Local #598. After retirement, Willie spent his time fishing, traveling, going to the casinos, playing Dominoes, going to Bingo, attending Blues Shows, listening to his Gospel and Blues music, being a dedicated and loyal grandfather and great-grandfather. Willie enjoy his great-grandchildren and grandchildren, they were his world. Every time you saw him he had a smile on his face or asked you how you were doing today. He never turned anyone down, you could depend on him; and if he couldn’t during that moment, he made a way. Willie wasn't just a father to his own children, he was a father to everyone’s children and everyone loved and appreciated him. Mr. Willie James Fair leaves to cherish his memory: 2 beautiful daughters, Alicia (Jimmy) Washington-Johnson and Tequila Fair; 2 step-sons, Marcus Hopkins, all of Flint and Keyonta (Keesha) Williams of Macon, GA; 6 wonderful grandchildren, Carteas Smith Jr., Jordan Nelson-Fair, both of Flint, Keyonna Williams of Macon, GA, MarcAsia Hopkins, Marcus Hopkins, Jr. and Markeis Hopkins; 4 great-grandchildren, Ka’Meria Fair, Ka’Marion Nelson-Fair of Flint, Kamari Williams and Kaycen Williams, both of Macon, GA; sister, Mary D. (Samuel) Fair-Williams of Waukegan, IL; 9 nieces including special niece, Milagros “Millie Jackson” Studivant of Ocala, FL; 10 nephews including special nephew, Oscar Jennings of Chicago, IL; 4 adopted children; a host of cousins, god-children, other relatives and friends including special friends, Taylor “Ike” McCaskey, Willie smith and Lee Davis Jr. Mr. Fair was preceded in death by his wife, Vanessa Ann Fair; girlfriend, Lorann Spicer; parents, Buss Fair and Lillie Stalling; 4 sisters, Ann M. Fair-Dallas, Jessie Mae Jennings, Annie C. Fair and Vera Miller; 3 brothers, Walter L. Baptist, Robert Lee Fair and Peter Baptist; and a host of other relatives. The family would like to express special thanks to Na’Kisha Winchester, the Spicer family, Mario Singleton, Milagros Studivant, Rochelle Strozier, Taylor McCaskey, James Powell, Paris Harper, David Garden and Supt. Lamarr Griggs, and anyone else who we may have forgotten.
