Mr. Willie King English Jr.

ENGLISH, Mr. Willie King Jr. - Age 69, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, March 7, 2025 at Saints of God Church, 2200 Forest Hill Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday, March 7, 2025. Mr. English will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Mr. Willie King English Jr. was born August 13, 1955 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. Willie Sr. and Mazie English. Willie was a resident of Flint his entire life. “Punchy” was his first nickname and it remained with him throughout his entire life. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1973.” Willie’s first job was in retail, working for United Shirt. He was a very sharp dresser and took pride in his appearance. Wille began his career with General Motors Corporation in 1976, working for both Flint Truck & Bus and Flint Metal Fabricating Plants, retiring after 39 years of service in 2015. Willie was baptized by Pastor Wallace Hill III after joining Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. He loved sports; with is favorites being basketball and football. Willie excelled at basketball in his younger years, acquiring another nickname, “Ditch” on the basketball court. He also enjoyed watching western movies on television just like his father. Willie got great pleasure out of eating, always enjoying his wife’s cooking and items prepared by his sisters at the numerous potlucks and family gatherings. But his restaurant favorite was a fish sandwich. Throughout his entire life, “Punchy” was a very kind and giving person, like both of his parents. He really loved being around his family, especially his grandkids, and poured lots of unconditional love into his children, nephews and nieces too. Mr. Willie King English Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: 6 sons, Deltjuan (Shemicka) Vance, Willie K. (Lashan) English III, Jermaine (Monea) English, all of Flint, Xavier Smith of San Antonio, TX and Dariel Dawkins of Detroit, MI, Trevor Smith English of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Damascus Taylor, Serenity English, Jermaine English, Joshua English, Destiny English, Chase Smith, Saniya Lewis, Khari Smith, Elijah Smith, Jarrah Smith, Tysheria Vance, Delriana Vance, Deltjuan Vance Jr., Daijah Battle, Daireon Vance, Delilah Battle, Olivia Dawkins and Trevor Smith Jr.; 1 great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Jennifer (James) Parker of Grand Blanc, MI, Sharon (James) Owensby of Sahuarita, AZ and Leontine (McKinley) Tipton; brother, Mark English, all of Flint; 6 nieces; 8 nephews; 2 aunts, Mrs. Marie English and Mrs. Lula Boykins; uncle, Mr. Frankin English; a host of cousins; 4 sisters-in-law, Ruby Vance, Belinda Vance, both of Flint, Dolly Vance and Margaret Vance; 2 brothers-in-law, Dennis Vance and Willie Vance, all of Mississippi; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, James Erving of Flint. Mr. English was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Willie Sr. and Mazie English; several aunts and uncles including his favorite aunt, Mrs. Ruth Davis; mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Vance; and father-in-law, Mr. Willie Vance. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at McLaren-Flint, Regency Rehabilitation and Fenton Health Care (especially to Frieda). Much thanks to Pastor Alfred L.
