COOPER, Mr. Willie B. - Age 64, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Vernon Chapel AME Church, 5802 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Rev. Roosevelt Brown officiating. Pastor Ernest J. Garrison, Host Pastor. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Mr. Cooper will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday and 9AM-2PM Friday. Mr. Willie B. Cooper was born March 14, 1944 in Hurtsboro, Alabama the son of B.C. Cooper and Mamie Lee Turpin. He was a member of the Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church security team. Willie was employed with General Motors for 32 years. He loved gardening, lawn work, pitching horseshoes, and spending time with his family. Mr. Willie B. Cooper leaves to cherish his memory; wife Valentina Cooper; two sons; Willie B. (Patrice) Cooper Jr., and Marcus Darnell Lanes; five daughters, Tracey Wansley, Michelle Cooper, Lorene Cooper, Renee Cooper and Willa Cooper; twelve grandchildren, Sekeda, Chalan, Chanae, Marcita, Kendrick, Muleek, Shawndrekia, Destiny, Thais, Chyna, A.J., Kenyatta, and one additional grandson who was more like a son Marcus (Martez) Williams; two great-grandchildren, Ar’rmanie and Dalon; two sisters, Regina Coleman of Flint and Corarell Marshall of AL; four brothers, Jimmie Lee (Earselene) Cooper, Porter Lee Cooper, B.C. (Alfreda) Cooper Jr. and George Cooper, all of Flint; mother and father in-law, Fred and Fannie Moore of Flint; six sister-in-laws, Dee Kincaid of MS, Eloise (Bobby) Evans of AZ, Trenda Jones of AZ, Duawanda Hines, Irma Faye (Jimmy) Rhymes, all of TX and Evalyn (Donald) Kellum; five brother in-laws, Tyrone (Lynette) Ward of Flint, Oliser (Faye) Ward Jr., Kenny Ward, Ricky Ward, and Randy Ward all of AZ; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends, including good friends Walter (Buster) Jones, Sheila Phillips and Bernice McNeal, and a very special great niece Eva Lakes. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by parents B.C. and Mamie Lee Cooper, brothers; Wardell L. Cooper, Bennie Lee Cooper, and one grandson Tyrese Cooper, and one great-grandson Chavell Johon Rauls. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Peddireddy & his medical team, and the C.C.U. staff at McLaren Regional Hospital, especially nurse Ursula.
