COBB, Mr. Willie James, Jr. - Age 62, departed this life, Thursday, June 7, 2012 in Garland, Texas, where he resided at the time of his death. Family hour 10:30 am. Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, G6415 N. Clio Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Wallace Hill III officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Cobb will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday. Our beloved Father, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin, Willie James Cobb, Jr. was born November 24, 1949 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Willie James, Sr. and Clara Mae Cobb. Willie of “Mann” as he was affectionately known to by family and many friends. Willie was a beloved father of 2 daughters. He graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1967” where he was Captain of the Wrestling team and achieved the honor of the school’s first State Wrestling Championship. Willie also attended Grand Rapids Community College and later received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. He retired from Chevy/Delphi of Flint, a division of General motors where he enjoyed working alongside many of his friends and neighbors. “Mann” was well known for his love of family, music and friends. When asked about the funny stories remembered, his cousins readily shared the pleasure he took in teasing them, dancing with them and laughing as they called him “Blue Cobb”. Mr. Cobb confessed Jesus Christ as his Savior and throughout when he worshipped the Lord it was at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church and on occasion at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish memories of the happiest days together: 2 daughters, Sherri (Tyree) Langston of Taylor, MI and Ericka Cobb-Wells of Atlanta, GA, 4 grandchildren, Kenisha Edwards, Evan, Tanjanique Dye and Tiona Langston; 3 sisters, Betty Loving, Vivian (James) Elliott, all of Denver, CO and Carolyn (Welton) Lewis of Flint; 1 brother, Wilbert (Zet) Gamble of Corvallis, OR; special aunt, Betty Hill; a host of other relatives and friends including close friend, Albert Northington of Louisville, KY. Mr. Cobb was preceded in death by his parents.
