CHAPMAN, Mr. Willie D., - Age 73, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024, at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, September 13, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Pastor Derrick Aldridge, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Friday. Mr. Chapman will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Mr. Willie D. Chapman was born August 9, 1951 in Lawrence, Mississippi to Earnest Chapman and Zeola Chapman. Although the youngest of 5 children, he was referred to as the little big brother. Willie’s family moved to Flint in 1963. He attended Flint Public Schools. He worked at Fisher Body, a Division of General Motors, for a short time before leaving to become an entrepreneur and operated successful businesses; Willie D’s Produce Truck, a Fish Market, and a Car Wash. He loved his family and was a father figure to many who affectionately call him “Pops.” Willie loved fishing, was a car enthusiast and, back in the day, he loved driving and racing “souped” up cars. He always knew what was going on locally and nationally because he was not going to miss watching the news. Willie D. Chapman is survived by devoted daughter Shanique Johnson of Flint; 3 sons, Kievaughn Brandon of Grand Rapids, Willie Smith of Flint, and Dontrell Smith; sister, Mildrene (James) Rouser of Flint; grandchildren, Shamijah Boykins, Sharnell Johnson, Jaylin Coleman, LaKiell and Brandon, Dequandre Warren, Kiana Brandon, Dahvian Brandon, TaShonda Robinson, NyGeona Durrett, Kievaughn Brandon, Jr., Annalise Brandon, Mya Zalenski, Amir Brandon, Khristian Brandon, and Kiara Brandon; great grandchildren, Kaysen Whitfield, Avea Quintero; Donovon Robinson, Kannon Walker, Kameron Walker and Jayvion Pittman; special niece, Alvita Rouser, Bertha “Bookie” Williams, and Monica Chapman; nephews, Kevin (Teresa) Chapman, Corey Chapman, Anthony (Bernadette) Rouser, Robert Jamison and Deron “Get” Chapman; a host of other relatives and friends; special loved one, Terrel Fisher. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Zeola Chapman; sons, Kielland Brandon and Rodney Seabron; grandson, Willie Smith II; sister, Christeen Cox; brothers, EC Chapman and Johnny Lee Chapman; a host of aunts and uncles; nieces, Johnnie Williams, Sherrilrita Green, and Luwann “Peaches” Chapman; nephew, Curdetrious Williams; Deborah Johnson, the mother of his daughter.
