Mr. Willie Edward Burns

BURNS, Mr. Willie Edward - Age 74, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, February 17, 2023, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with Funeral Service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home, 10:30 AM Friday. Mr. Burns will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Mr. Willie E. Burns was born on September 5, 1948 in Natchez, Alabama to Arthur and Pearlean Burns and on February 1, 2023 The Creator called home one of his strongest angels. Willie left home at the age of 17 to join the United States Air Force. After serving in the Military he moved to Flint, Michigan and began employment with General Motors at the V-8 Engine South Plant. Willie had great determination and was always ready for a challenge. While working long hours he still made time for his family all while furthering his education to become a Machine Repairman on Skilled Trades where he was a member of the UAW Local 659. Willie also was a co-founder of the Tri-City Van Association and went by the CB Handle "Tiger man". He enjoyed traveling with his Tri- City Club Members going to various cities to Truck-In's and taking family vacations. Willie also enjoyed hunting and fishing as well. Years later Willie furthered his education once more and obtained his Construction License and became an Entrepreneur starting up the Willie E. Burns Construction Co. and was a member of the John F. Stevenson Masonic Lodge. After 43 years of dedicated service Willie retired and began the next chapter of his life, just relaxing and being the best Grand-dad/G-daddy he could be. Willie was a "Jack Of All Trades", a Great Cook and just an amazing well rounded guy who was loved and respected by all that knew him. Especially by his Edwards St. Families. Mr. Willie E Burns leaves to cherish his memories: wife of 51yrs Loretta Burns; daughters, Kendra Cunningham of Cleveland, Oh; Gertonya Woods, Matika and Tanisha Burns of Flint, Mi; grandchildren, Mysha Cunningham and Chanel Davis of Cleveland, Oh; grandsons, Rickey Jackson Jr., Timothy II and Malachi Ormond of Flint, Mi; great-grandson, Mario Cunningham of Cleveland, Oh; sisters, Retha Clemons of Flint, Mi. and Atlean Biggs of Peterman, Al; brothers, Arthur "AJ" Burns, Arthur (Dorothy) Burns, Floyd (Dorothy) Burns, Robert (Hattie) Burns and Bill Burns all of Flint, MI; Curtis (Maxine) Burns of Peterman, Al; brother-in-law, Walter Odom of Flint, MI. A host of nieces Andrew nephews as well as many other relatives and friends. Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pearlean Burns; sister, Fannie Mae Odom; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Eria Woods; sister-in-law, Barbara A. Searcy; 2 brother-in-law's, Irvin Biggs and Feaster Clemons; niece, Beverly Clemons; 3 nephew's, Lee Odom, Richard and Sylvester Clemons.
