Mr. Willie B. Buford

BUFORD, Mr. Willie B. - Age 84, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Kith Haven Nursing Home. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Rev. W.E. Whitaker, Sr., officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Monday. Mr. Buford will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Willie Berry Buford was born September 10, 1928 in Oxford, Mississippi, the son of Robert and Addie (Cohran) Buford. He graduated high school in Oxford, MS and attended Okolona College in Okolona, MS. Willie retired after 36 years of service from Buick Plant 36, a division of General Motors and was a member of UAW Local #599. He loved several sports; pool, basketball, football and golf in which he taught his children the game. Willie also loved to travel with his cousins, Charles and Ella Banks. He was a very fun loving person that enjoyed people. Mr. Willie Berry Buford leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Barbara (Harris) Buford; 3 daughters, Addnetta (James) McClinton, Rosalind Buford and Monica (Harvey) Williams; 4 sons, Willie J. Buford, Alvin (Mary) Buford of Kansas City, MO, Kenneth (Linda) Buford of Moline, IL and Sherrod Pigee; 19 grandchildren, Angela Buford of Flint, Tameka (Darrell) Thompson of Grand Blanc, MI, Trevor (Latoya) Buford of Douglasville, GA, Tanya, Nicole, Derry, Jaquaya, all of Flint, Riana of Washington, DC, Kanayko, Willie C. Buford, Markeda, Steven, Dennis, Lanika McClinton, Kristine McClinton, Harvey, Montrell of Brooklyn, NY, Paul, Crystal, Quadra and Keontae; 37 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Edna, Theresa, Johanna and Zola; 3 brothers, James, Emmett and Macon; a host of nieces including special niece, Maggie (Walt) Williams; a host of nephews including special nephew, Fred McGowan; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and friends including special friends, traveling buddy, Charles Banks and his Hasselbring Center buddies. Mr. Buford was preceded in death by his granddaughter; great-grandson; parents, Robert and Addie (Cohran) Buford; 3 sisters; 3 brothers; nieces and nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to Grace Hospice Care, Dr. Pias, Tina, Gina, Melinda, Rose, the Chaplain and so many more. We appreciate and love all of you.
