BUCHANAN, Mr. Willie Lee - Age 78, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Henry Ford - Detroit, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Tuesday. Mr. Buchanan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday. Minister Willie Lee Buchanan was born May 7, 1948, in Walles, Mississippi, the 2nd of 5 children born to the union of Emerson and Louise Buchanan. Willie accepted Christ at an early age, later becoming a member of First Timothy Hands of Love-City of Refuge Church of Flint. He enjoyed being with his family and singing his favorite songs, “By The Grace of the Lord, I’ve Come A Long Way” and “I Get A Great Consolation When I Pray.” Two things you couldn’t catch him not doing were. Watching his shows and being in the sun watching the cars go by. Willie also enjoying filling up your voicemail and he never stopped spreading light into everyone about being whatever they want to be in life. He was always proud to say he was a Buchanan. Minister Willie Lee Buchanan leaves to cherish his memory: mother of his children, Rose Reeves of Flint; 2 daughters, Shamia Buchanan of Atlanta, GA and Keanna (Joe) Reeves-Shaw; 6 sons, Daniel Buchanan, Maurice Reeves, all of Flint, Robert (Mary) Triplett, Jimmy Triblett, both of Osceola, AR, Carlos (Clarissa) Reeves and Lazarick (Algetha) Reeves, all of Kansas City, MO; a plethora of grandchildren and great-grandchildren including, Jadaria and Zaricka Reeves, both of Flint; sister, Emmer Jean Buchanan of Flint; nieces, Shaunita Hawkins, Latasha Scott, Lawanda Luster and Kendra Luster, all of Flint; nephews, Rajahn Buchanan, James Liggins, Allen Overman, all of Flint, Fred Gulledge of Tulsa, OK; great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins, equate to an amount you cannot fathom; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Jimmy Wainwright and Darnell Young. Minister Buchanan was preceded in death by his son, Lester Alexander; parents, Emerson and Louise Buchanan; sisters, Louise, Ethel and Earnestine Buchanan; brother-in-law, Tommy Gulledge; and niece, Katina Coulter. The family would like to express special thanks to Bernestein Holmes, Shannon Willis, Lawanda Luster, Pastor Willie Ruth Moore, Pastor K.C. Belton and church family.
