MARSHALL, Mr. William “Bill” Thomas - Age 84, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Gentiva Hospice-Flint. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 at Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church, 2120 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Keith J. Bigelow, Sr. officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Friday. Mr. Marshall will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m., with family present 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. William Thomas Marshall a.k.a. “Bill” was born in Memphis Tennessee on January 27, 1929. He served in the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged. Bill then relocated to Flint Michigan in 1952, which is where he made his permanent residence. He was a faithful member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and attended for over fifty years. While a member, he served in several capacities; he was a member of the National Baptist Laymen’s Convention, Board of Trustee, Usher Board and Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Director and member of the Male Chorus, and faithfully performed his duties as van driver long after it was expected. “Bill” retired from Fisher Body Plant I, a division of General Motors as a Crane Operator after thirty years of service. He was a gifted singer and musician, loved playing pool, checkers and participating in the Old Ship of Zion productions. He also loved to sing, enjoyed great meals and delighted in shopping. Mr. William Thomas Marshall “Bill” leaves to cherish in his memory: 7 children, Mr. Billy (Janet) Marshall, Ms. Maxine Murray, Mr. Lendale (Sidney) Marshall, Mr. William L. Marshall, Ms. Jacqueline Marshall, all of Flint, Ms. Sandra Marshall of New York City and Ms. Crystal Jones of Flint; sister, Mrs. Ollie J. Murphy; sister-in-law, Mrs. Betty Marshall, both of Flint; grandchildren, Issac Marshall, Mya Marshall, Deshna Marshall, Anthony (Shatae) Marshall, Cory (Tequilla) Marshall, Jamia Murray, Tyomie Marshall, Joel (Rachael) Marshall, Lendale A. Marshall, and Shondra Marshall; 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grand-child; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. “Bill” was proceeded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jessie M. Marshall; father, William Marshall Sr.; mother, Edna Marshall Burnett; grandmother Sally Bobo; sisters, Tracy Troycia Underwood, Ruby Charlene Adams and Zonia Marshall; brother Hoyle Marshall; aunt, Selma Bennett; grandchildren, Ronnie Marshall and Lisette Murray. The family would like to express special thanks to his loving granddaughter Ms. Tyomie Marshall, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Family Worship Center, Harris Memorial, Victorious Word Church, Hasselbring Senior Community Center, Gentiva Hopsice staff, Dr. Syed Sattar, Dr. Hasssan and Hurley Medical Center neuro Intensive Care Unit staff.
