JONES, Mr. William H. “Mutt” – Age 78, passed away, Thursday, July 24, 2008 at his residence. Family Hour 10AM, Tuesday, July 29, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Eld. John Thornton officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford in Holly Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Tuesday. Mr. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Monday. Mr. William H. “Mutt” Jones was born December 23, 1929 in Waterford, Michigan, the son of Solomon and Willie Belle Jones. He served 2 years in the armed services, fighting in the Korean War and was honorable discharged in 1954. After returning home, he wed Phyllis Roberts and one child, Rhea Gayle was born from this union. In 1959 he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he remained until 2006. While in Los Angeles he worked many jobs, retiring in 1994 from the Los Angeles Police Department, Rampart Division after 25 years of service. He enjoyed his retirement until his health began to decline and returned to Flint permanently in September 2006 to be with his family. William loved his family and the Lord and recently rededicated his life to Christ. As a young man he was known as one of Flint’s best dancers and was an avid listener of jazz music. Mr. William H. Jones leaves to cherish his memory: loving companion and caregiver, Bernadette Ragsadale of Riverside, CA; daughter, Rhea Gayle Jones; sisters, Lucille McMullan, Shirley Murray and Judith (Willie) Nolden; nephews, Vanthony (Gloria) McMullan, Bryant and Corey Nolden; nieces, Roxanne Pringle, Shirletta Murray and Lanita (Melvin) Marion; great-nephews, Jarrett Johnson, Eddie Pringle, II, Antwan McMullan, Otto Brown, III, Jarrod Murray, Jawaun Jones, Ashton Marion and Malcolm McMullan; great-nieces, Carmen Brown, Tiara Murray, Jacquette Jones and Morgan McMullan; several great-great-nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends including the Hawkins and Pippen families and friends from LaPuenta, California and Flint. Mr. William Jones was preceded in death by: his parents; 2 brothers-in-law and 2 nephews. The family would like to express special thanks and gratitude to special great-niece and caregiver, Tiara Murray, Pastor Anthony and Rev. Mary Arasanmi of Liberty Christian Outreach Ministries, Edie, Matt, Sheryl, Joe, Cecelia, Mark, Chaplin Bob and the entire staff of Heartland Hospice.
