BURNS, Mr. William L. "Bubba" - Age 84 passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Tuesday. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Tuesday. Mr. Burns will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2:00 PM-8:00 PM Monday, with the family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. William L. Burns was born November 17, 1932 in Farmington, West Virginia, the son of Leo and Ruth (Cousins) Burns. He accepted Christ at an early age in Farmington, WV. William attended Dunbar High School, where he was well known for dancing and roller skating. He moved to Flint, Michigan in 1956, where he attended Foss Avenue Baptist Church. William was employed by AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors faithfully for 28 years. He had a love for cars and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Mr. William L Burns leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Sherika Finklea of Flint, MI; granddaughter, Kennedi Stokes of Flint, MI; 2 sisters, Edna Stone of Flint, MI and Ruthann McFadden of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 brothers, Lawrence (Armer) Burns of Grand Blanc, MI; Robert Burns of San Francisco, CA and Eugene Burns of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; 2 nieces, Kimberly Burns of Galveston, TX and Lawrenceann Burns of Grand Blanc, MI; 7 nephews, James Burns of Dallas, TX, Eric Burns of San Francisco, CA, Shaun & Eric Burns of Los Angeles, CA, and Michael & Lawrence Burns of Flint, MI and William McCullough of Flint, MI; 9 cousins, Genevieve Board, Clementine Smith, Velma Brown, Grace Powell, Harry Steptoe, Nancy Barnes, Betty Mason, Virginia Tyler, Carlene Brown and a host of other relatives and special friends including; William “Billy Brown, Ronald & Mary Julia Hunter, Amy Parks, Maxine Carter, Alphonso Berry, Dora Conway, Ethel Dumas, Rose Norris, Iris Hare and Bertha Wrighting. Mr. Burns was proceeded in death by: grandparents, William and Edna Cousins; parents Leo and Ruth (Cousins) Burns, 2 brothers Leroy & James Burns and nephew Ted Burns. The family would like to express special thanks to his caregivers Renee Nichols, Katrina Jones & Kendria Langston. Medical staff, Dr. Mousa Mohammed, Laura Svinarich, Beverly Kirkland and Mary Nelson. Neighbors, MelissaYancy, Destry Owens and Loretta Kelly, VAAA, Absolute Hospice Care, Morning Star Baptist Church, Macedonia Baptist Church and his all whom played a part in William’s care over the years.
