BROADWAY, Mr. William, Jr. - Age 55, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 in Lake St. Louis, MO. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with memorial service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Anthony Artis, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Friday. There will be no public viewing. He graduated from Flint Northern High School where he was an All-State running back (# 20) and previously held the single season rushing record for the city of Flint. He chose to attend Michigan State University on a “full ride” football scholarship and he earned a Varsity letter (# 25) in 1975 as a defensive back and kick returner. In 1976, he decided to end his football career in order to more effectively dedicate his life to Jesus Christ. He married Lawanda Marie and the fruit of their union produced three wonderful children: Maia Yvonne, Delan Cara, and Asheley Dawn. He was an extraordinary father and protector of his girls, and they could always count on him for wisdom for life’s decisions. He was a committed worker at General Motors for 36 years and would later reside in Lake St. Louis, MO. He touched the lives of many people with his smile and love, and maintained his trademark sense of humor. He loved spending time in God’s presence, laughing, watching sports, reading, and being with his family. He will forever be remembered by his Father, William V. (Sharon) Broadway, Sr., his wife for 23 years: Lawanda Broadway, his beloved children: Maia (Carl) Johnson, Delan Broadway, and Asheley Broadway; Loving Siblings: Michael, Sharon, Douglas, Jewell, Barbara (Jeff), Tyree (Renita), Bryant (Natalia), and Natalie; beloved Aunt Joan Lewis, a host of loving cousins, lifelong friends Dennis Cabine, and Mary “Cookie” Miller, along with countless other family and friends who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his Mother Sylvia Marie Broadway, Daddy Halbert Little, Uncle Thurston B. Lewis, Brother-in-law W. Craig Farley, Nephew Alexander D. Broadway, as well as his grandparents, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
