Willa Ridgell

RIDGELL, Mrs. Willa Marie - Age 73, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Prayer Garden C.O.G.I.C., 3918 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Jerry Givens officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Saturday. Mrs. Ridgell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mother Willa Marie Ridgell was born May 13, 1936 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Simon Pokagan and Madeline Nagansey. Mother Ridgell was united in Holy Matrimony to Jarrett David Ridgell. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Prayer Garden Church Of God In Christ. Mother Ridgell attended Mott Community College and became a LPN before moving to Arizona. While in Phoenix, AZ, she furthered her education, became a RN and retired from the Phoenix Indian Medical Center in 2007. She was awarded, “The Best Hands On Nurse”. Mother Ridgell joined Emmanuel Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Bishop King while in Phoenix, AZ. In 2007, Mother Ridgell returned home to Flint, where she attended Prayer Garden C.O.G.I.C. her first love. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved going to church. Mother Willa Marie Ridgell leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Jacqueline (Donald) Ridgell-Boyce of Flint; son, Joseph (Jean) Hilliard of Detroit, MI; stepson, Mr. Jamal Ridgell; 5 grandchildren, Demetrious Ridgell of Phoenix, AZ, Almondo and Mario Hilliard, Donald and LaToya Boyce, all of Flint; 11 great-grandchildren, Quincy, Shakyra, April, Furious, Alexis, Kawan, Shani, Ma’Layah, Mario, Jr., Shamira and Quisean; special sister, Miss’y Evelyn McKeown; sister-in-law, Irene Simmons; brothers-in-law, James and Calvin Ridgell; a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends, Mother Norma Jean Thompson, Sister Richardson, Earlene Coulter of Phoenix, AZ, Travis Givens, Robert Jackson, Phyliss Jones and Dorothy Boyce. Mother Willa Marie Ridgell was preceded in death by her husband, Jarrett David Ridgell; parents, Simon Pokagan and Madeline Nagansey; and great granddaughter, Neveah Ridgell.
