Ms. Willa Jean Harrison

HARRISON, Ms. Willa Jean - Age 67, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 in Grayslake, IL. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, July 3, 2020 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Friday. Ms. Harrison will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Willa Jean Harrison was born October 2, 1952 in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee, the daughter of Willie and Bennie Harrison. Jean Harrison lived in Graylake, IL and was a Professor of Nursing at the College of Lake County for the past 20 years. She attended the University of Michigan and completed a Masters in Nursing Administration. Jean enjoyed teaching and offered her students guidance during classroom and clinical instruction. She was a very spiritual person and attended Methodist Community Church. Jean was a world traveler and visited places such as China, France, Denmark, and Sweden for business and leisure. Jean was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Jean enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always supported them providing guidance and advice whenever needed. She also enjoyed her pets and had a connection with nature and animals. Jean was the oldest of 5 siblings and was serious about her title as Big Sister. She constantly promoted education and offered advice to uplift whoever needed it. Jean lived a fulfilled life and enjoyed seeing people positive and happy. Willa Jean Harrison leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Candy Harrison; sisters, Theresa Harrison and June Harrison; brother, Gary Harrison; niece, Journyi Harrison; nephews, Langston Elvord and Antho Harrison; great-nieces and great-nephews, Antianna, Quicey, Ashley, Aaliyah and Antio Jr.; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Francine, Charmaine, Michelle and Maurice. Willa was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Bennie Harrison; and sister, Wanda Harrison. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor & First Lady Alfred L. Harris Sr. and the Saints of God Church family, Dr. Chanduri, Dr. Damrich and Dr. Meeks.
