Mr. Wilbert Pollard

POLLARD, Mr. WIlbert - Age 80, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 at his residence. Mr. Pollard will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Monday, June 3, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Afterwhich he will be taken to Howard's Funeral Home, 682 9th St., Jonesville, Louisiana, (318) 339-9671. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Wilbert “Willie” Pollard, age 80, departed this life, Sunday, May 26, 2024, at his residence as a surprise to all who knew and loved him, but the will of God. He was the son of the late Elizabeth Smith Pollard and Alfred Pollard Sr. of Jonesville, Louisiana. Wilbert was born on June 18, 1943 in Jonesville, LA. He was baptized at an early age at the Greater St. Mary Baptist church, that he visited most times when he returned home. He graduated in 1961 form Catahoula Parish Training School/Jonesville Consolidated High School. In the beginning of his professional life, he served his country in the United States Air Force, after the Armed Forces, he moved to Flint, Michigan, where he resided until his departure from this life. His employment there was with General Motors Corporation, Salem/Lincoln Mercury Auto Dealership, and the Flint Board of Education where he worked until retirement. Wilbert was affectionately known to all his nieces and nephews as “Uncle Wilbert”, “Willie Pollard”, “Doc Pollard”, “Uncle Buc”, “Big Unc” and “Uncle”. He was also, one that was full of questions and mostly concern about his family and called each of them at one time or another. Wilbert talked to nieces and nephews daily. He genuinely loved all his family and special friends. He also, enjoyed spending time with family, breakfast with the doctors (special friends), and shooting the breeze at the store, McDonald’s, Farmer’s Market, etc. Better yet everywhere he could talk. Mr. Wilbert “Willie” Pollard is survived by: a very special niece, Val Hawkins; daughters, Felicia Simon and Tami McIntosh (Carlton); 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 13 nephews; 8 nieces; numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great-niece and nephews; 3 first cousins, Shirley, Audrey and Liz; many friends and other loved ones. Mr. Pollard was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Smith Pollard and Alfred Pollard Sr.; siblings, Ulysses, Odell, Ethel, Alfred, Fannie, Bettye, Marie and Inez; 4 nephews; and 1 niece.
