DAVIS, Mr. W.C. - Age 63, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Thursday November 10, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Thursday. Mr. Davis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 4PM-8PM Wednesday. Mr. W.C. Davis (aka) “Willie” was born August 10, 1948 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the son of R. B. and Ceola Davis. “Willie” was married to Sallie Davis and 4 children were born to this union. He attended school in Mississippi and at a young age and moved to Michigan, where he was employed by General Motors for a period of time. W.C.’s greatest passion was being able to go fishing; when he wasn’t fishing he dedicated his time to helping others. Mr. W.C. Davis is survived by his: wife, Sallie Davis of Flint MI; children, Suzanne Davis of Flint, Jessie (John) Derose of Lansing MI, David Southward, Eric Southward, Tamika Southward, Cora Tucker and Tasha Tucker, all of Flint; 11 grandchildren; 8 sisters, Thelma Clemons, Fronie Wilson, both of Chicago, IL, Odessa Clemons, Maggie Ann Owens, Maggie Lee Marshall, Betty Clemons, Tracy Greer, all of Philadelphia, MS, Maggie Sue Dwairi of North Carolina; brother, R.B. Davis Jr. of Philadelphia, MS; a host of nieces and nephews along with several cousins and many great friends including, Misty Jennings, Kathryn Southward, Robert Walker, Faye Brinson and many others. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by 2 of his children, Linda Searcy and Sherry Davis; parents, R.B. and Ceola Davis; 3 sisters, Analee Mason, Katherine Clemons and Shirley Magee; 2 brothers, Bobby Burnside and Melvin Davis. The family would like to especially thank Hurley Medical Center staff, McLaren Medical Center staff and his medical doctors that treated him for all the care and comfort they offered our father during his illness.
