MOORE, Mr. Wardell "Champ" - Age 76, took the morning train heaven bound on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at Riverbend Nursing Home. Family hour 10:30AM Tuesday, November 1, 2005 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00AM. Rev. David Martin, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Tuesday. Mr. Moore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Mr. Wardell "Champ" Moore was born on November 3, 1928 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Russell and Mary M. Moore, Sr. He was a resident of Flint and accepted Christ at an early age. Wardell was a devoted husband to the late Mrs. Argerene Moore for 52 years. As a hardworking father of eight, Wardell retired from Flint Chevrolet Metal Fab, a division of General Motors Corporation. "Champ" served as the President of the American Poolchecker Club at Berston Field House for over 15 years. He Enjoyed checkers, his favorite saying was "Don't make your move to soon." He also enjoyed bowling, performing different bicycle stunts, playing pool, his guitar and the piano. "Champ" loved to eat wherever he went. Mr. Wardell "Champ" Moore leaves to cherish his memory: 4 daughters, Mary Alice (William A.) Woodward, Regina (David M.) Martin, and Yvonne Moore, all of Flint, Wardella (Clarence) Stone of Grand Blanc, MI; 4 sons, Gary Lee Moore of Dayton, OH, Dennis O'Keith Moore of Phoenix, AZ, Leon and James (Carol) Ellworth Moore, all of Flint; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Moore, Jr., of Kansas City, KS; nieces and nephews of Kansas including the Abner, Ballance, Dye, Kinsey, Nelson, and Wright families; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Hoses Akins of Holly, MI, for more than 40 years, also the Limbrick, Spear, Humphrey, Brownlee, Jenkins, Allen, Woodward, Andrew, McDaniel, William, and Hinkle Families, Dr. and Sis. Fred S. White and the New Heaven Baptist Church Family, Prayer Garden, and the Brothers. Mr. Wardell "Champ" Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Argerene Moore; and sister, Elberta Chinn.
