Mr. Walter Alexander

ALEXANDER, Mr. Walter - Age 77, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. Lewis Randolph, Host Pastor. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Alexander will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed 12:00 PM-8:00 PM on Friday. Mr. Walter Alexander was born September 13, 1939 in Lexington, Mississippi, the son of Dalton and Lillie May (Torrey) Alexander. He was one of eleven children to the union. Walter confessed hope in Christ and attended Beulah Grove Church of God In Christ in Lexington, MS. He moved to Flint, Michigan in 1960. Walter was employed at Applegate Chevrolet and Sears until he was hired at Fisher Body I, a division of General Motors. He later transferred to Buick City where he retired in 1995. Walter loved watching Sanford and Son and cooking Barbecue Ribs with his special B.B.Q. Sauce that everyone loved until he became ill. Mr. Walter Alexander leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 55 years, Mary P. Alexander; 3 children, Phyllis Renáe (Theanglis) Webb, Ronnie Alexander and Stephanie Britt; 9 grandchildren, Marquanne Smith, Ronnie S. (Jasmine) Alexander Jr., Deandra Wesley, Theanglis Jr. (Raynett) Webb, Darico Laron, Thelisa Webb, Bria Britt, Tacaris Webb and Alexa Britt; 8 great-grandchildren; 6 sisters, Katherine (A.C.) Alexander of Lexington, MS, Clara Kimbrough of St. Louis, MO, Grace Mosley of Toledo, OH, Rogerine (Clinton) LeFlore of Grand Blanc, MI, Rosie Lee Wade of Lexington, MS and Betty (Clifton) McKennie of Chicago, IL; brother, MacArthur (Albertine) Alexander of Chicago, IL; 4 sisters-in-law, Ernestine Gray, Sadie Hairston, Thelma (Charlie) Jones and Mary Alexander; 4 brothers-in-law, Will Hairston Jr., L.A. (Willie E.) Hairston, Alcurtis (Pearl) Hairston and Gilbert (Jeanette) Hairston; special nieces, Sharon McKennie and Denise Marve; special nephew, Maurice LeFlore; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Lillie May (Torrey) Alexander; 2 brothers, William Alexander and Dalton Alexander Jr.; mother-in-law, Callie P. Hairston; father-in-law, Will Hairston; 6 brothers-in-law; 2 sisters-in-law, 3 nieces and 3 nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to caregivers, Amanda Hairston (niece), Stephanie Britt (daughter), Connie Miller, McLaren Hospice and the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family.
