HOLMES, Mrs. Vivian L. - Age 87, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Fostrian Court Assisted Living, Flushing, MI. Memorial service 11:00 AM Saturday, November 23, 2019, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., Pastor Latrelle Holmes, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at Chapel 11:00 AM Saturday. There will be no public viewing. Mrs. Vivian Lucille Holmes was born May 28, 1932 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Jesse Green Sr. and Willy Mae Hill. She attended Fairview Elementary School, Lowell Jr. High School. Vivian attained her High School Diploma from Flint Northern High School while working as a Cashier with Yankee Department Store and attending Night School with her daughter, Sharon. She enrolled in the former Flint Business College and while there gained employment as Telephone Operator with Michigan Bell Telephone Company. In 1969, Vivian began employment with General Motors Corporation where she continued until her retirement in 1994. As a lifetime resident of Flint, Vivian was known for being a “Fashionista”, that loved to play Bingo, Pokeno, Poker, dance and drive the latest Cadillac. Her favorite phrases were, “money, money, money, money and money!” “I’m still That Girl”, and “pray always, even when you’re talking” in fact, it was her prayers to God above that got her through to the end. She was baptized as a child at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastor J. Watkins and later was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Canaan Baptist Church and lastly, Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where her son, Latrelle W. Holmes Sr. was the Pastor. Mrs. Vivian Lucille Holmes leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Ernine (Willie) Smith; 3 sons, James C. Hill, Charles T. Hill Jr. and Latrelle (Katrina) Holmes Sr.; step-son, Skeeter (Donna) Holmes; grandchildren, Monique (Tim) Tyler, Kaleka Lewis, Monique Brown, Dwan Brown, Troy Brown, Trolaunda Hill, Terria Hill, Latrice Holmes, Latrelle Holmes Jr., JaCoryeon Holmes, Huston Adair Jr., Ernine (Tony) Simon and Darese Bray; 41 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Natlean (Gregg) Campbell, Antoinette Chapman, Linda (James) Russey, Cynthia McCree and Brenda Adams; brothers, Eddie Lee Smith, Joe (Lawana) Green and John Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and friend including special friends, Veta Holmes, Charles (Ann) Thomas, Patrick Sullivan, Charlette Thomas, Deacon Coney, Claudia Perkins and Micheal Payne. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Holmes; daughter, Sharon Lucille Lewis; sons, Allen Ray Hill and Clarence Anthony Hill; grandsons, Darryl Bray Jr., Askia Lewis, Terrance Lewis; great-granddaughter, Kanasha Thomas; parents, Jesse Green Sr. and Willy Mae Hill; step-mother, Lucille Kyle; aunts, Thelma Reaves, Myrtle Elbert and Sylvia Gates; uncles, Robert Duckett Sr. and Roosevelt Duckett; brothers, Jesse Green Jr. Clyde Jones, Donald Jones, Robert Gardner and Dale Johnson.
