BROWN, Mrs. Virginia "Mother Brown" - Age 70, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at Fostrian Court Assisted Living. Family hour 10:00AM Tuesday July 19, 2016 at Bountiful Love Ministries Church Of God In Christ, 3432 W. Pasadena Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00AM. Min. Gerald Green Eulogist, Supt. Kevelin B. Jones Host Pastor. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00AM Tuesday. "Mother Brown" will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12PM-8PM Monday. Virginia Mae Brown “Mother Brown” was born August 8, 1945 in West Memphis, Arkansas, the daughter of Johnnie and Mary (Simmon) Green. She graduated from Wonder High School with honors in West Memphis, AR on August 8, 1945. “Mother Brown” was a member of their Championship Basketball Team and was the Class Motivational Speaker. She met Albert Brown while employed at a local diner, her presence and beauty captured his attention, and from there it became history. Virginia and Albert raised 7 children. “Mother Brown’s” good friend, Ms. Mints took her to Pastor Dennis Leonard’s revival. She enjoyed herself the first night and went back the second night wanting and receiving the Holy Ghost. After this experience Virginia and Albert relocated their family to Flint, Michigan. “Mother Brown” became a member of Deliverance Church Of God In Christ and later Bountiful Love Ministries Church Of God In Christ where she served as Church Mother, Sunday School Teacher and all around Christian Educator. She was a Prayer Warrior and she loved to dress. “Mother Brown” was a funny, loving and caring woman. She also was a Shopping Professional, suits were her first love, Walmart was her second, but most of all she loved God. Virginia Mae Brown “Mother Brown” leaves to cherish her memory: 5 daughters, Keishia (Matt) Tolbert of Flint, Leasa L. Brown, Tracy (Henry) Cornelius, all of Mt. Morris, MI, Yolanda (Omar) Henderson and Latasha Taylor, all of Swartz Creek, MI; 2 sons, Andre D. Green of Flint and Gerald (Iesha) Green of Austin, TX; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters-in-law, Effie Brown, Faye Brown and Verna Brown, all of Luxora, AR, Cassandra Barksdale of Flint, Geraldine Woods of Arlington, TX and Josephine Brown of Luxora, AR; 3 brothers-in-law, Freddy Brown of Indianapolis, IN, Robert Earl Brown of Luxora, AR and U.L. of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Juanita Williams, Jessie Mae, Majorie Lewis, Lanita Murry, Gloria Key, god-father, William Cook and special son, Raymond Johnson. “Mother Brown” was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Brown; granddaughter, Sylvia Taylor; parents, Johnnie and Mary Green; brothers, Johnnie Green, Jr. and Demetrius Green; daughter-in-law, Tania Green; sister-in-law, Fairyann Sanders; brothers-in-law, Charles Brown, Otto Brown and Joe Brown.
